Hobbies/Interests: Reading, tutoring/teaching, board games, music.

Height: 5ft 4 ish

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: Say today, have started before but really need to get my act together.

Starting Weight: Oh god, 16 and a half stone.

Present Weight: See above!

Goal Weight: 10 stone

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Chronic laziness and utter conviction that will fail.

Following any specific plan: Getting my *** to the local weightwatchers on Saturday as I know I can't do this on my own.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Few things. One is that I'm getting married in 8 months and I can't handle the thought of crying when I see my wedding pictures cos I look so awful in them. Another is that I've started having really bad heartburn and it's only since I've gained weight. Third is that I want to start a family after I get married and I know how hard it will be at this weight. So, many reasons, have to get started now.

Anything else you would like to share with us: Please wish me luck that I do it this time!!

Hi Everyone

First name: Maggie

Geographical location: Edinburgh, Scotland

Age: 37

Marital Status: Married

Children/Ages: none

Occupation: Marketing & Retail Manager (really just doing a little of bit of everything)

Pets: Sophie, our cat

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, drawing, cinema, having fun with friends, walking (when I'm not being lazy!)

Height: 5' 8"

Eye/Hair Color: Brown Hair, greenish eyes

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: Today! 24 January 2011

Starting Weight: 16 stone 1 lb

Present Weight: 16 stone 1 lb

Goal Weight: 12 stone

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I've tried so many times before and I've always put it back on again so I'm lacking motivation and I'm an emotional eater so whenever I'm stressed, tired or unhappy I eat.

Following any specific plan: Calorie counting while followig the Beck Diet 6 week plan. I'm hoping this will help me reprogram some of my unhealthy eating habits.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: This is a hard question! I'm at a heavier start weight that I've ever been before so that is different, I'm also older and so more conscious of the health implications of carrying all this weight and I'm not enjoying eating any more. It's become a stressful activity, despite the fact that I do it all the time! This time is for keeps, I'm fed up hating my body and want to be more at ease with myself and have more confidence.

Anything else you would like to share with us: Think I've said it all above One last thing is that I'm not aiming to be 'thin'. I'm 5' 8" and so I'll be happy to get down to 12 stone, where I'll be a size 16. I've never been thinner than that weight and I know that I feel slim, healthy and fit at it.

xxx

Goal Weight: 145 lbs (or around that)

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: family and friends and their influence, binge eating, emotional overeating

Following any specific plan: low carb/low GI, a mix between the two really

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past:
When I was 14 I weighed an unhealthy 209 lbs and lost about 66 lbs over the course of one summer, I gained it back in the 12 years to come though, bringing me to my starting weight this time around.

Anything else you would like to share with us:
I have PCOS, which didn't exactly make it easier, but I've done well so far and I'm proud of myself. I knew that once I'd start I wouldn't quit because if there's one thing I was always proud of concerning myself, then it's that I'm not a quitter.
