Hi!

  • So, this is NOT my New Year's Resolution. Just had to get that out there...

My name is Randi and I am fat. Yup. I said it. Fat. Fat. Fat. *That feels REALLY good to day, and not have anyone (DH) say "No you aren't!"*

When I was 18, I joined the AF at 155lbs. I got pregnant with my first, and gave birth at 200lbs. I dropped down to about 165lbs and maintained-ish, until I got pregnant with my 2nd about 3.5yrs later. I gave birth at 250lbs. Ouch, right? I dropped to about 190lbs. I got pregnant with my 3rd and did all I could to NOT have a high weight gain. I apparently just gain lots no matter what I do. I gave birth at 260lbs . After all was said and done... I say my journey starts at 250lbs. This was the end of Oct 2010. Did what I could, little dieting, slight exercising, and nursing... I am now 225lbs .

My sister and I made a pact to take a pic of our weight from the scale and send it to eachother every Monday to stay motivated.

My Long Term Goal is 145lbs. Although, I will be very happy with 155.

Mini goals... 180 by 26 Apr 2011 (My 26th Birthday). And 170 by 1 Jun 2011 (Our CA Beach Trip).

I can't wait to get to know all of you ladies and continue on this weight loss journey! I am sure this will make it a lot more fun!
  • Welcome! Sounds like you are already off to a great start. If you have been looking around, you already know that this is a great place for support and encouragement. It is great that you have been working with your sister. Keep up the great work, and good luck with all your goals.
  • Welcome Randi!

I'm happy to see that you are making your way around the boards. Make yourself at home. We're glad you're here!
  • Hi Randi -

We have lots of areas you might want to check out...from forums by eating plan, to those by age range (like the 20-somethings), there is truly something for everyone here.

Can I make a tiny suggestion, though? Goals are AWESOME, and can be motivating. But it can be really risky to set "Lose X lbs by Y date" goals. For some people, these goals can be more destructive than they are helpful. How do you know if they'll help you? Imagine that you planned to lose 30 lbs by a certain date. When that date came, if you'd lost 25 pounds, would you be proud of the 25 lbs of progress you made, or would you feel like a failure for the remaining 5 lbs you didn't lose? If you lean more toward the second, it might be better to set goals based on things you can control directly (for example, days on plan, minutes of exercise, etc). The scale can be fickle, and I hate for people to set themselves up for disappointment if the scale doesn't always respond the way they'd like or as quickly as they'd like.
  • Welcome and good luck!

    Dhani
  • That is amazing progress already! Wishing you the best of luck!!!
