Default 2 inches? 6 lbs???

All last week, I've been eating maintenance. With all the goodies I was given, along with food and alcohol, I couldn't help myself.

I weight myself today and it says I am 6lbs more and I have 2 inches more on my somach. Is this possible??

I have not eaten more than maintenance (for sure). I was eating between 1700-2000 on all 7 days. Is it true that my stomach got 2 inches bigger and I put on that much?

Or your body may be telling you that your maintenance calories are less than you estimated and you may have gained some fat. Remember that calculators are only a very broad guesstimate about calorie needs and that we have to figure out, through trial and error, what our own unique calorie needs are for weight loss and maintenance. For some of us, it's a lot less than what a calculator would say.

All you can do is hop right back on plan, drink lots of water, exercise, and see what the scale does over the next week to ten days. Hopefully you'll see the six pounds disappear and take some friends with them.
I sure hope so! Thanks Meg

My mother also said it is probably bloating. I know I had some beer a day ago which makes me gain bloat, maybe this time the affects didn't start until a day later? I've also been having a lot of salt and I had the alcohol last night. I sure felt like yuck this morning!

I just hope I am not coming up with reasons to make myself feel better.

I am starting back on the gym Monday, as I've had a two month maintenance break. Now it's time to lose the rest of that weight~

I would also add that "goodies" are the easiest thing to undercount significantly because they are so calorie dense. Unless you weighed everything and used that to calculate calories, I'd expect you to be under by 20% or so. This isn't a reflection on you at all--it's just the difference between a 200 calorie cookie and a 250 calorie cookie is difficult to see with the naked eye--if I handed you both, you really couldn't tell which was which.

ETA: Did a little research. According to Fitday, each gram of cookie has 5 calories, so the difference between a 200 calorie cookie and a 250 calorie cookie is the weight of four pennies. Truly undetectable without a scale.

If I'm not sure about something's calories being accurate, I usually add 50-100 onto it to be safe. I don't know if it helps. I do have a scale but I am not obsessed enough to weigh everything I eat. I wish I was, to be honest.
