Default New here...no will power!

Hi, Im new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kelly, I am a 43 year old wife/mother. I am the biggest I have ever been in my entire life and quite disgusted with myself. I have a massive problem....I have absolutely no will power! Anyone with the same issue please help me, all advice is welcome. I am only 5'3 and way too ashamed to say how big I have gotten...wait, to be honest, I havent been on a scale in at least a year! I want so badly to just be able to walk to the mail box and not get out of breath. I want to lose at least some of this weight so badly. Im not looking to be a bikini model, just to be a bit more healthy! I look forward to hearing from you all and seeing your success!!!

Kelly

Welcome Kelly! 3FC is a great place for support and information.

I totally hear you on the willpower thing. I have plenty when it comes to shopping so I mostly just don't buy (or bake) tempting things. Because once something is in the house the willpower doesn't work as well. And I have practically none at all when it comes moderation. Eating just one cookie is about impossible so I find it best to just not try.

I am very hopeful that I can get better with the moderation part of the equation. I would love to learn to be able to take 2 or 3 cookies from the jar and be satisfied with those. I'm not sure I can ever get there so right now I'm in the "just say no thank you" phase right now.

I try to have healthy options I can have and will enjoy (having a clementine instead of a piece of cake doesn't feel like a sacrifice to me because I love love love clementines! Having a piee of celery instead of cake wouldn't work so well for me...). And I find other things to do so I'm not obsessing about the treats I'm not eating - coming in to 3FC gets me out of the kitchen. And things like knitting keeps my hands busy so I can't reach for things I shouldn't be eating.

Once you start losing weight it gets a little easier because you look and feel so much better than the bad old ways aren't as tempting. But the first week or three - that's the toughest.

I am in that same "no will power" boat. I want to second the person above me about the shopping thing. I have all the will power in the world when i go to the open supermarket and I feel like everyone is watching, it's really easy not to put junk in the cart. The problem with that is that if you live with other people who are buying the stuff. I find besides simply not buying things I shouldn't be eating, I also exercise in the morning, I exercise hard, that way anytime I'm being tempted I'm less likely to go for it because I feel like I'm erasing the hard work I did in the morning. And one more thing... I eat before I get hungry. When I am hungry I lose all control, it's like I'm a different person. So I just make sure I eat on a schedule and not wait until I feel my tummy growling because then I find myself in big trouble! Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

Default Me too

Hello Kelly,
I am also a new member, and was just going to write a post introducing myself when I saw your post was basically exactly what I was going to write. I am also 43 years old and this is also the heaviest I have been. I managed to put on over 20 lbs in the last two years, and right now I am just happy to get rid of those, although my long term goal is to go reach a healthy weight of 150, considering my height.
I wish you all the best on your weight-loss journey and perhaps our paths will cross again on these forums!
