Alot of people at my work have had gastric bypass and I am going to the informational meeting tonight. But. It just seems like the easy way out and since being lazy is what got me where I am, I dont think the surgery will poof make me unlazy. So Im taking matters into my own hands. I started Jillian Michaels 30day shred last night (its the only workout video I own) and I could only do 10 min before I was shaking and had to sit down. But. Thats 10 minutes more than I have done in a year or more. So its a start, and today I'll try and do 10 min more and finish the 1st circuit and keep on from there. I have 100lbs I want to lose.

Welcome, BrandyGale, and good luck on your journey. I've never seriously considered gastric bypass, but have seen several stories of how those who have had it end up gaining all (if not more) of the weight back because the surgery did not address the root cause of their weight gain. I hope you find your root cause and wish you all the best as you work towards your goal.

Welcome. Just a note...there are a lot of ways to your destination, choose what works for you. If you decide to go the GP way then deal with the issues before the surgery. Hopefully you have visited the WLS thread so that you can ask questions of the people that had surgery and are successful at maintaining their loss. No route is the "lazy" route. Losing weight is work. It's great that you started working out because either route you take it helps. Make sure you are planning and leaving no room for failure.

Have fun and enjoy the journey.

For me, WLS would be the lazy route, because I dont think even seeing the results would help me to become motivated. Im not knocking the surgery, Id love to loose 100lbs in a year, but that wont stop me from grabbing a cheeseburger or downing a coke. Today Im hurting like crazy, but its a constant reminder that I did exercise yesterday, and surprisingly enough, Im looking forward to working out again tonight. I hope I didnt give the impression that people who have the surgery are lazy. Not at all. But for me, yes, that would be lazy.
