I use an app called shapeup for iphone. It also has a web interface and you can also join it. its called the shapeup club. having it on my phone lets me track what I eat and the reason I like it is you can create meals and workout its calory content. Also it has a huge database of foods and what amazes me is that it also includes brands that are australian and exclusive to particular supermarkets. It also lets you track the calories used to exercise and lets you know how much you can still eat and tracks weightloss and fatloss etc. I havent joined the shape up club but apparantly if you join you get access to more graphs and charts etc.

I haven't seen any good programs that are completely free. I've tried Perfect Diet Planner and Meal Mixer which both have free trial periods before you have to buy. I still have the Perfect Diet Planner on my computer but I've gotten away from precise calorie counting like I used to do. Meal Mixer is good if you want to plan meals based on nutrition; they have a lot of good recipes with all the nutritional information for you to mix and match. I guess I'm lazy now - I'm doing Freshology (meal delivery) until April so I don't have to worry about all that calorie/fat/carb counting for awhile.
