Default WW is just a business. They don't care about us.

I keep seeing this come up with the new program - that WW is just a business looking to make money so that's why they changed.

But you know who else is a business? The “100 Calorie” pack companies, the “Sandwich thin” companies, the “Skinny Cow” companies that all prey on people's desire for low point foods that were not actually healthy for you.

So if you are all annoyed at WW for "changing" due to money, think about the companies that were taking advantage of the old system to make money off of you without helping you.

Now, about that sneaky Fruit & Vegetable Lobby that probably paid heavily towards the new program...

Where are you getting your information lol
Weight watchers is constantly changing plan. They dont make any more money off of us than the 14 dollars we spend a week or more if we buy their products.

sorry if this came off harshly. just my opinion

I totally agree! I think the new program needed to happen. There were so many sneaky 1 point foods that really should have been more.

I personally like the new program, and you all you need is the $6 calculator. All the cookbooks (at least mine) have the nutritional info, so you can refigure the points.

I personally like it and think it's a better program. It's gotten me thinking about what I was eating a lot more too, I was kinda stuck in a rut personally.

EDIT: People! She's saying that it's a good thing WW changed! You read the headline and didn't bother to read the post closely!

I wasn't a big snack pack person, I do still eat my vitatops but I figure if I can eat fruits and veggies for free it all evens out. So far I am really liking the new plan too.

That's why I used the words "I keep seeing this come up with the new program" not "this is what I believe about the new program." Because I keep seeing posts and comments on blogs about how evil this change it, and it seems odd.

Peanut, I'm sorry, but yes, I think she is saying the the change is a good thing. I really think that the headline is sarcastic...

She's saying that the problem isn't necessarily WW, but the companies that make the sneaky 1 point foods that aren't really one point. Like Sandwich Thins and VitaTops etc.

seagirl--I agree with you. I'm going to go make my dinner now and not read anymore...

You wouldn't recognize WW of today with the origional WW of way back when. I think it has improved for the better. By the way, any company that wants to stay in business must make money or they are out of business.

Well I'm sorry I misinterpreted. And I think I understand now.
There were a lot of people whining about the fact that we needed to spend a little extra cash but it was for a reason. I think i personally like the new change, I feel fuller than I did before and im hoping that it will work better.
Sorry again SeaGirl

well a company has to make money to stay in business don't they? doesn't mean they can both make money and care about you. I've found a lot of people are shocked that ww isn't non-profit.

though there are days I have top admit I wonder if I wouldn't have been further ahead if I'd bought shares in the company over the decades instead of going to meetings. but that is no reflection on the company. Just on how committed I was at thet time.

I have also seen and heard a few people say that they refuse to go to meetings because Weight Watchers has become money hungry and doesn't care about it's members! Of course Weight Watchers has to make money, it is a business and in order to keep the company running it MUST generate funds! Same goes for companies like Jenny Craig, Medical Weightloss, Nutrasystem, etc. if they didn't make money, they wouldn't be around right now!

I honestly don't mind spending the extra money for the materials and other things like the crackers, shake mixes, and bars. I look at it as an investment in myself because my health is much more important. If you think about it the people who are complaining about having to pay extra would have spent more on fast food had they not joined Weight Watchers!!

LA Weightloss is known for not giving refunds. I signed up but didn't do their program and had to fuss for three months to get my refund. They had certain foods you could eat/not, had to buy THEIR bars, and would let you eat transfats back then. It was basically an extremely low calorie/carb plan where they try to simplify it and tell you eat this not that and then you become a success story for their marketing. Ifff you can eat the small amount of food, and never mind the nutrition of what you are told not to eat.

Jenny Craig is, if I'm not mistaken, processed food with alot of sodium in it.

WW is one of the better programs because it is more broad and flexible and realistic.
