Smile hi, I'm new here! It's time for a change!

so, last night i realized something while i was bingeing on cookies at 2am, i need support!
everytime i try to lose wieght i do it alone, and so far that's not working so well.

i am at my heaviest wieght 275!

i think one of my biggest problems is Pcos. my hormones are all out of wack.
it doesn't help that for 3 years we have been trying to have a 2nd baby.
i know when i got pregnant with my son it was truly a miracle. (almost lost him early on due to low progestrone) i was around 250 with him, i actually lost 25lbs and by the end i had gained 20 back. But i wound up on bedrest with high blood pressure! i don't want to go through that part again. so i want to lose weight so i can have a healthy pregnancy one day i hope.

oh i have also had my gall bladder removed so that affects what i can and can't eat sometimes (cant handle high acid foods or greasy foods)

so i know this is a lot of info but i need to get it out there.

i will say this, i know a ton about diets, what works and what doesn't.
i know i need a life change not a diet, but It's so hard for me especially when we don't have a big food budget.
i do have a hard time finding ways to excercize especially with a 3 year old in tow.

i do need an acountability buddy so maybe i can stay on top.

so anyway, i can't wait to learn more and get started losing the pounds.
thanks for reading, sorry about the rambling lol

Hey there!

We have a "Shoestring Meals" forum here with some great ideas on how to make healthy meals on a budget. We also have a forum for those with PCOS and/or insulin resistant issues. Either place might be good for a browse for more information.

We also have forums by amount to lose (such as the very active 100 lb club, for those looking to lose, on their way to losing, or who have lost 100 lbs or more) and by age range, so there are lots of places to explore and get ideas.

You can also look at the Goals and Mini goals forums, to prove to yourself that lasting weight loss IS possible (even with PCOS - I have it too, so I understand the struggles).

So look around, read, and join into the posting. I can't wait to get to know you better!

Welcome!

Isn't interesting how we can know so much about how to lose weight, and still it can be so hard?

But you've taken a good step in looking for support. There are tons of groups and challenges here, just look around and find something that works for you.

Good luck. I know you can do it!

Welcome!

I developed PCOS BECAUSE I was overweight. My periods were completely normal until I reached aobut 260. When I was at my heaviest of 340, I hadn't had a period in 10 months. In the first month I dropped 20lbs and I got my period! Estrogen is stored in fat cells. Get rid of the fat cells, you get rid of excess estrogen and then your body stops producing extra testosterone to counteract it. I've been pretty regular for the last 5 or 6 months, though this month I'm late but I think it's because I haven't been as on target with my eating and exercising. I'm hoping now that I'm moving again, that my body will continue to sync up again. My doctor said that the best treatment for PCOS is weightloss. I agree. PCOS makes it harder to lose weight, but if you stick with it, it's worth it.

Best of luck on your journey!

I have the same goal as you...175.
I have lost 20 lbs since June. In 6 months I should be down another 20.

I am counting my calories. I average around 1600 per day for now.
It is working for me.
I started out eating 1750 per day and lost for 3 months.. But had to drop it lower as I hit a plateau.
I am not starving...but there were a few days in the first months that I was very, very hungry. The extreme hunger passed in 4 days time.

I found a calorie counter on the net...and keep a tally of all the food I eat each day in my documents.. And I also keep track of little changes I see and feel in my body...as I get discouraged... So I go over the changes to remind myself how much better off I am now.

"IF YOU BITE...YOU WRITE" is a quote I found here to be most helpful.

If I don't write down every little thing I eat...I go over my daily limit on calories.

I also go on Youtube.com and look at the before after photos for more motivation. Ruby Gettinger inspires me the most.

Counting calories is a lifelong plan. It has to be...or you won't keep it off.
You will make it like me. One day at a time.

Couponmom85, I read and reread what you wrote and wanted to invite you to look into Accuweight. There is a forum on this site under General Diet Plans and Questions called "the bead diet" which has pages of discussion regarding this program. Please feel free to skim through them. You should know that this diet (exercise not immediately necessary) is not advertised because 100% of their business is by word of mouth, and it's not for everyone as it takes remarkable commitment. The entire protocol could be viewed as a detox since it is constant fat loss.

I have no affiliation with Accuweight other than as a participant, and it's working for me. Beware that there are other "bead" diets out there that are illegitimate and 3 Fat Chicks has indeed brought them to light in the past. This is not one of them. Accuweight's customer service is nurturing as well.

As for price, I am spending on Accuweight (total including their beads every 27 days and my own personal food and vitamins) about the same that I would spend on just food alone on a monthly basis. So, interestingly, this has not been a financial deficit for me.

Good luck with whatever weight loss path you choose!
