Question Newbie, Ready for the journey!

I am so excited I found this site! I hope to find lots of inspiration from others who are losing it! I am a mother of a 3.5 year old and would love to have another baby, but my weight (252 lbs) and age (39) are going to be an issue, not sure it will be possible. The most important thing is that my daughter grows up healthy and happy, without any food issues. I really don't want her to be the one starting school with the BIG mommy. My husband and I have been eating fast food for years and I need to stop. I am worried since my husband refuses to eat any vegetables besides tomatoes and pretty much won't eat fruit either.

I hope to can get some feedback on how to lose weight, while living with someone that only likes meat, potatoes, cheese and beer.

Like many here, I have tried everything under the sun to lose weight, but I am going to try to lose weight a healthy and sensible way this time.
I have a huge and slow journey ahead, I think that I am ready.

Hi! & to 3FC!
Trying to lose weight while your husband has bad eating habits IS hard but NOT impossible. There are several forums here with different ways of eating Counting calories, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers are just a few. Check them all out and find a plan that's right for you.
Hugs and support on your weight loss journey

Welcome! It's hard not eating the same things as other people in your house, but it's totally doable. If you're the one who prepares the meals, you can always find healthier recipes for things that involve meat, potatoes, and cheese, and then add other veggies for yourself as well. He can eat larger portions, you can eat smaller ones, he can have potatoes with cheese, you can have mixed veggies, etc. It might be hard, but it's totally worth it. Also, if he's totally refusing to eat what you want to eat, he can make himself food, he's a big boy. :P

You are completely right KenzideRhae !! My husband is a big boy and I need to just worry about myself.

So for the first 3 days I have been keeping track of calories and I have also been calculating weight watcher points, not sure which way I should go???? I have seen posts that forseethe points calculation changing soon (possibly December). I haven't attempted to exercise yet, because I am trying to get my food under control first. Just not sure which would be best for me...

I personally like just straight up calorie counting because with the points there's more to calculate, but you should just try both for awhile and see what you like better.
