Default Hi Calorie counting an Alton Brown

Hi I am new to this site and trying to make a lifestyle change. I need to lose about 40 lbs. I was watching food network and Alton Brown had a show on how he lost 50lbs. I was wondering if any of you calorie counters are also trying to follow this super healthy regimen and if its working for you?Thank You

I also watched that show. Still have it on my dvr. I'm going to try to stick to his smoothie breakfast. I've done the counting calories and it worked. I was able to eat what I wanted as long as I stayed in range. Is this chocolate chip cookie really worth it kinda thinking Of course I stopped calorie counting and dieting completely. That is why I have packed on an additional 40+ lbs. After watching him I began thinking about losing weight again. Hope I succeed this time! Good Luck to you.

Good luck to you too. I wish he had said something about lean chicken and how much per week. Did you hear anything about it?

Welcome!

I love Alton Brown! I saw that episode as well. I think he also said it was in one of his books too or it was like a preview of some new book. I forget. I don't really follow his plan either but I thought it was definitely interesting.

I'm doing exclusively calorie counting now. It's worked in the past eating very low calorie not very nutritous food (1200 cal per day). Of course I weigh much more now but I've been eating a max of 2000 calories of nutritious food per day and losing steadily since Feb. I've just started lowering my calorie count now that I'm out of the 200s. (max of 1900) I use Daily Plate to count my calories but I've also used Spark People and Fitday in the past if you're looking for a good online tracker.

Welcome again and let us know how you do on Alton's plan if you decide to do it!
