Default Do You Have A "String Bean" Husband?

So I'm up at 5:30AM making our lunches for work. Hubby comes into the kitchen and tells me that he's losing weight. I looked at him and he was right! I noticed his face has slimmed down quite a bit and his body is a lot more toned. I'm assuming this is result of our daily exercising and healthier eating habits but I wasn't assertive to how it was really impacting hubby.. Don't get me wrong, this is a good thing :] But he's always been in great physical shape. He's an electrical contractor and is physically active hands-on all day long for 10 hours six days a week. It's kind of funny cos I then said (being a bit pretentious) well maybe you should start calorie counting with me :] He just laughed and said, "If I started calorie counting — I'd be a string bean!". He's right too.. He's 5'9 and weighs about 160lbs. He's just got lucky genes that man.

Anyone else got a spouse that is a lucky ducky with the natural ability to maintain a healthy weight?

YES! My husband is 6'1 and 165lbs and it drives me nuts that he can devour ANYTHING and not gain a pound! It makes me wonder if when people see us out and about if they think the reason he is skinny is because I eat all the food before he can get any! hahahaha

Not my husband, but my boyfriend is 6' 5" and is 186lbs. He eats bad, drinks soda or beer. He's a landscaper so he's always on the go but still. Drives me bonkers. As your husband, my boyfriend has very good genes

Definitely used to be the case for my hubby until he got a desk job! He is 6'2" and now weighs 260 lbs. For the first time in our relationship I weigh almost the same as he does. I have always been heavier. I was 187 when we met and he weighed 165. He was a skinny, tan, STRONG man though, YUM. He also ate complete crap.
What drives me nuts is he decides to lose weight and he does. He just says 'I'm gonna lose 10 lbs' and a week later, he has. He is not trying right now, but when he saw what I weighed on Monday morning, he definitely took notice and is excited that I'm losing. I'm pretty sure he will be back to losing again very soon.

Well hopefully him seeing how well you are doing motivates him to start losing weight and keeping it off! I can't even begin to imagine what my husband would look like being heavy! I don't really think it would be possible for him though, he is tall and slender like his mom and she eats like crap and is still skinny. Some people just have all the luck! haha

My husband is 6'4" and about 185. When I first met him he was about 200 and muscular. He's shrunk a little bit but he's still got muscle. Not a damn stretch mark on his body. He's ridiculously perfect in every way, sometimes I wonder why he even wastes his time with me since he's so beautiful and I'm... Blah.

yupp 6 feet and 170, eats like a horse, very active job but very active sweet tooth too. He is really supportive of me but its hard because he doesn't understand how it feels to be overweight, he has never had a problem. In fact he would like to gain weight...I tell him he can have mine as I lose it lol

Ug my husband is 6'3" and 200ish pounds, he's barely got a tummy but it's so easy for him to lose it! He used to eat whatever he wants but now that he's 35 it's just starting to catch up with him and now he's eating much healthier and exercising with me.

My fiance' is the same way, and he has a desk job, doesn't work out, isn't very active. But he's always been thin his whole life! He eats like a horse, and it drives me crazy! I'm pretty sure his metabolism is the cure for obesity being that since I've been pregnant, I have only gained about 2 lbs and I"m at 33 weeks already. I think it has to be his genes in the baby's metabolism that came from his! There's just not any logical explanation to why weight gain doesn't happen with him!

yes I have a husband who doesn't gain weight. He eats all sorts of crap but doesn't put on even a lb. I think it is unfair that some people have such a wonderful metabolism but it is good in a way that i dont have to worry about his health too along with mine.

Oh yes, my BF...he is 5'9" and weighs 140lbs. But even though he eats a lot sometimes, he stops when he is full whichi s something I admire about him. In addition, once he eats his dinner, thats it...no dessert for him. I have to make a very conscious effort not to have dessert, but for him its a no-brainer.

When hubs and I started dating he was 5'8" and was wearing jeans with a 27" waist. He was painfully thin and had been all his life. For him the challenge was putting on weight. He complained to the doctor once that despite all his efforts he couldn't gain at all.

The doctor told him to enjoy it while he could because by the time he hit about 33 - 35 his metabolism would most likely slow down dramatically and the weight would pile on. I would like to go back to that doctor and have him pick some winning lottery numbers because it was so true. When he hit about 34ish he started gaining weight and it piled on rather quickly. Now he weighs closer to 180 lbs and most of it is in his belly which worries me because that's an indicator of higher heart attack risk.

Of course, he's not bothered by it at all. After all those years of being so horribly thin he likes having some meat on his bones and he'll pat his belly and call it his "food baby"

ugh.... tell me about it! My boyfriend is 6'2 and 160lbs. He literally eats a PB&J before every meal and has been known to eat my entire tub of Ben & Jerry's low fat Fudge Brownie ice cream in one sitting. I divide the tub into six desserts and haven't had peanut butter in a year!

Sunshine73, so i call my belly my food baby! I even have my sisters all calling their post dinner gut as a food baby.

I have a string bean long-time BF. He's 6' and about 135 at the highest. He's also 49: he's one of those rare people whose metabolism never, ever slowed down. He has a desk job and eats and drinks a lot. He does work out, but he's moderate about it. I definitely work out a lot more than he does.

Whoa! Some of you ladies really do have "string bean" husbands/boyfriends! I'm not sure how I'd deal with a skinny man lol. I like mine being muscularly lean. Hehe.

Men are just lucky. Aren't they? Lol
