I was doing my weekly grocery shopping today and got an unexpected NSV. Since day 1 of my weight loss efforts in July, I've been eating healthier foods. I eat mostly veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, and good fats. With some treats, of course.
But today I was shopping at Woodman's and got in line where this woman I'd never met before helped to check out my items. She was very friendly and commented on the frozen fruit I was getting (yum!), and when she saw the rest of my items she smiled and said that I was eating very healthily.
I didn't expect that, have never gotten that comment before, and looked at my stuff to see what she was talking about. I had fruits, veggies, granola cereal, vanilla herbal tea, stuff like that. It DID look healthy... it still seemed weird to me, though - ME eating healthy? Still not used to thinking of it like that.
The woman complimented me on eating healthier and started chatting about how she had recently decided to try changing her eating habits. She was a very tall, larger woman.
At first I was surprised. I thanked her for her compliment and we chatted a little, then I left. When I finally got home I started to feel a little flattered.
It's a nice thing to hear, really. I've never thought of my new eating habits as blatantly healthy - it's just the way I eat. But it's nice when someone notices what I've been working on.
Just wanted to share.
