After lurking around the forums for a while, I decided to become less creepy and join so I could post as well.
I've lost 40 pounds over the last 2 years making changes in my life (giving up Mountain Dew, limiting snacking, not having second helpings of dinner, eating more veggies, etc). So it is possible I'm the slowest dieter ever.
I still have at least 40 more to go. I'm hoping I can get out of the obese category and into the overweight category (164) by the end of the year. And I think that the support here will help me stay focused in order to do that. I'm hoping to catch the next opening of some of the challenges.
I'm still trying different things to see what works for me and what I can reasonably do for the rest of my life. That's why I look at dieting as being kind of a human guinea pig. You have to experiment on yourself to see what works for you and what doesn't.
Currently I'm trying the Eat Stop Eat program which has you fast for 24 hours 1 or 2 days per week. I go from dinner to dinner so I actually eat every day but just skip breakfast, lunch and snacks twice a week. I really like it as the other days I get to eat a bit more to keep my weekly calorie deficit the same as when I was dividing the deficit amongst all 7 days. Plus, surprisingly, I don't get hungry those fasting days so they turn out to be my easiest days.
For the diet, I'm also currently trying to reduce my refined carbs and trying some new foods. I made my first smashed cauliflower the other day and really enjoyed it. I also tried Greek yogurt for the first time but didn't like how thick it was. But I will say it seemed more filling than regular yogurt. Going to try quinoa next.
For exercise, I'm currently walking, doing some videos from Exercise TV and playing Just Dance 2 on the Wii. Exercise is my week spot. I don't really enjoy it so I consider it my biggest work in progress.
Looking forward to becoming active on the forum!
