I posted on here a little while ago about hair loss and weight loss. I decided to go to my local GMC store to get some supplements. I knew I was going to get some biotin and a multi vitamin and fish oil. When I got to the GMC the worker there helped me find what I was looking for and also suggested another set of supplements that they have that he said would work much better than what I was buying. He said that this other hair formula was much more effective. It came in 30 packs with like 5 pills in each (calcium, fish oil, hair nail and skin formula, multivitamin etc.) However, this set he was showing me was $59.99 for 30 days worth of pills. I can afford it and if it really works better then I would rather buy that. However, I always feel a little skeptical when I go places like that since I know they are supposed to probably up-sell. He was giving me all kinds of other advise as well and it all sounded legit. I just don't know what to do.
Would y'all stick to the 60 day supply of 3 different pills (biotin, multivitamin, and fish oil) or go with this other pack (be-wholesome is the name). I want to stop this hair loss asap but am unsure if the more expensive way is definitely the way to go. The 3 pills are like $30 for a 2 month supply and the pack of things he said works much better is $60 for 1 month.
Any thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated! Also, if you have any other suggestions, please let me know!
The only way to really know which will work better is to try it. Maybe buy the less expensive one for now, see how that works for the next month or two. If it's not working or you're not satisfied, try the one the GMC worker said is better. You should Google the products and see if you can find reviews. I always tend to go with the less expensive supplements, because a lot of the time there's really no reason for one brand being so much more expensive than another. More expensive does not always equal better.
You could also try talking to a doctor or a nutritionist and seeing what they think you should take. They'd probably know better than anyone else.

I would choose the less expensive version, and preferably, I'd avoid GNC.
GNC sets strict sales goals on their employees to sell the Vitamin paks and other products...which are heavily, heavily marked up compared to other stores and even other brands in the store. You were being pushed toward buying those because the GNC folks have goals to make or can face disciplinary action. The quotas run from 10-20%...basically, one in 10 or 5 people who buy anything has to buy a Multi of GNC brand or the salesperson can be disciplined or fired. And almost all of the things they sell can be purchased WAY cheaper online or pretty much anywhere BUT GNC.
He told you it was "more effective" to meet his sales goals. There's nothing magical about GNC products, but they sure do know how to hard-sell (again, to meet the quotas set by corporate for sales of their branded items), mostly because their jobs genuinely depend on making those sales.
That is what I was worried about, mandalinn. Thanks for the input. I am glad I went with the small bottle of Biotin. I actually went on Amazon and the Biotin I bought that they sell there had the lowest review of any you can buy on amazon . A lot of people said it doesn't work. I went ahead and ordered another brand that had rave reviews from Amazon. I know that I will need these soon no matter what (when I run out of the ones I bought from GNC). And if I feel that the ones from GNC aren't doing their job, I will just start taking the others sooner.
I use the cheaper Nature's Bounty vitamins..(they are often buy one get one free at CVS, walgreens, plus I use coupons). Right now I'm trying Natrol's hair vitamin since it was on sale... Puritan's Pride also runs good sales.
You don't have to spend alot on the vitamins, it's more important to take them everyday consistently and the right amounts...

I've never really shopped at GNC so I don't have much advice there, but I wanted to recommend Nutrition Express. They have a huge online catalog and good prices. One nice thing is you can find items by condition, for example here's their list of products for hair loss: http://www.nutritionexpress.com/heal...ons/hair+loss/
Their Lindberg Healthy Hair vitamins are only $20 for a three month supply!
Why not just try adding a biotin supplement? It's probably what they are using as the "hair and nail formula" any way. Make sure you're getting enough biotin and magnesium if you're having hair loss issues.
Be sure whatever you try to give it 60-90 days. I work for a veterinarian and any time we put a dog on Omega 3's (fish oil) for coat issues, we tell clients to use it consistently for 90 days and then reevaluate, it takes some time to see results.
