Unhappy Did it Again

I fell off the wagon and gained a lb n a half back. Can't blame anyone but myself. I had a real depressing few days last wk and as usual went to food for comfort. But i'm back on since Monday and i walked monday and went to kickboxing yesterday. I've also decided to change my diet a little bit from just counting calories to also eating more high fiber foods. The Fiber One PB bars are outstanding!

Your post sounds like something I could have written. I have had a rough couple of days (and I can't even really pin point why) and have been stuffing down food. I wish there was an easy way to rid myself of my emotional attachment to food.

I read somewhere, someone had posted... they had read an article about smoking and how the more times a person tries to quit, the more likely they are to succeed. This person looked at WL the same way - the more times you pick yourself back up, the closer you are to never falling off the wagon again. I found this analogy strangely comforting.

Try to give yourself credit - all you had was a few bad days and now you are back on track. I think this journey is more about how quickly you can get back on track and less about being perfect.

I hope you are feeling better and that whatever has been depressing you has passed.

Everyone has rough days... congratulate yourself on getting right back on track. Don't worry about the past; just look forward to the future!

I fell off the wagon for about 6 months... and gained all my original weight back. But one morning when I got on the scale and saw 170 I knew that I never wanted to see it get higher than that, and that kicked me right back onto plan!!

Two days is just a blip on the radar. Forget it; full speed ahead! And good idea to add more fiber into your diet - eating healthier calories is just as important as eating fewer calories.

To me, they're a little too outstanding if you know what I mean.

I mean, to me, they're glorified candy bars. They're over with in two seconds flat and I feel as if I haven't eaten a meal. And then I'll want another one.

I think what *they* say when they say to eat more high fiber foods - they're speaking of more natural ones (unprocessed), such as veggies,, veggies, veggies and fruits.

I need those high fiber foods (the veggies, fruits) as they keep my tummy full and they stave off the cravings for *those other foods*. But another important factor for me - with the veggies I can get a LOT of volume. Lots and lots of foods for the same calories. I just finished an enormous bowl of veggies cooked in tomato sauce, sprinkled with parmesean cheese. I am stuffed beyond belief and have no desire to eat another bowl, which for me would not be the case if I just ate one of those bars.

So for me, counting calories alone is not enough. I need the filling, satiating, voluminous foods in order to adhere to that calorie budget. Other wise it's too darn hard.

Anyway, glad to hear it was a short fall and that you picked yourself up so quickly. THAT is key. Fall down - get up - immediately. Good job!!

thanks ladies . so comforting to say this without someone saying, "i knew that would happen"....it's happend to me before. and thats so discouraging.

I don't eat the bar as a meal, just as a snack about an hour before I go workout. plus i adore PB

ALL Fiber One bars are just way too good. I don't like to have them around because I'm always so tempted to eat them.

Anyway, good job getting back on track! That's the important part. No matter how hard you fall, always get back up. Remember too, a big part of a healthy relationship with food is finding different ways to deal with emotional situations. There are always people here to offer support if you're having a tough time, try posting if you feel like emotional eating.

Good luck staying on track! =)

just remember that while giving in is massively disappointing, it's not permanent! don't beat yourself up over it too bad. as long as you pick yourself back up and stick to your plan, you'll be fine!

my biggest fear is the weekends. Now, I love beer! not going to deny that and I have gone from almost every night to only the weekends, but its so unfair that I have a boyfriend, who I love dearly, but he eats anything he wants and drinks soda n beer and is skinny as a rail (he's 6-5 and 185lbs). It's very frustrating. Plus I am a die hard Yankees fan and with the series its driving me to drink lol. Just hope I can have some self control over the wkend.

ok that little vent felt pretty good

Thank you all for such wonderful encouraging words

This vent really didn't have to much to do with what I started with, but felt good to say.

OMG. I love beer, too. And this is a good time of year with all the yummy pumpkin beers and ocktoberfests and holiday beers right around the corner. (ok.. now that my mouth is watering)

Set yourself some rules. Don't drink beer friday, saturday and sunday. Pick ONE day or evening to have some beers. And then set a limit on the number of beers. Or if there is nothing special going on - don't drink any beers! "save yourself" for a special occassion.

I like to drink flavored seltzer with a splash of cranberry. It makes me feel like I am having a real drink when I am really not.
