Question How long does weight from excess sodium last?

I ate some fish from a restaurant yesterday at lunch and noticed that it was a bit salty. Woke up this morning and weighed....and was 3lbs heavier!!!

How long before this disappears? Anyone knows?

It likely varies from person to person, for me it's usually at least 2 days before the scale drops back down again.

I think it depends on how much excess sodium and how many ounces of water you're drinking.

Really, your best bet is to increase your water intake and just let it ride out. It could take one day, it could take a couple.

Yep it's 3 days for me usually. Why I weigh in every day not once a week

Forever? I tend to retain SODIUM weight for 2-3 days. I tend to retain water for muscle repair or just general upkeep (no idea) for seriously two weeks. TWO WEEKS.

I retain a lot of water when I eat salty things. I drink a cup of black coffee and increase my water intake to help flush my system. It usually takes me about 2 days for the swelling/bloated feeling to completely go away.

It's obnoxious, and likes to upset you, so it stays as long as you keep checking your scale & paying attention to it.

When you forget about it, drink lots of water, shrug your shoulders & accept it's what happens nearly every time you eat food cooked by someone other than yourself, then it sees it's not scaring you anymore, and it quietly goes away.
