Default Old WW 123 Success Plan - 1997??

I just joined 3 FC today so bear with me! I am not sure I am even posting where I should be but here I am - I have all the books, sliding point scale, etc. from the OLD WW 1-2-3 Success plan (the book is registered in 1997?) and I used this years ago and lost weight. I am 5'4" weigh 151 walk 6 days a week for 20-30 minutes and I used to eat 27 points. I looked online and by the new calculations I should be eating 20 points?? That doesn't seem like much but I know the WW plans have updated many times; and I cannot afford to join right now so I would like to use my old plan but wonder if I should just use the sliding scale like I used to....or will it work? Bottom line: does anyone still use the waaaay old WW plan succesfully or am I dreaming ? I know they now have flex points, etc and I don't know anything about those. THANKS in advance for any help - I have struggled with my weight all my life and now that I am 60 I am finding it harder and harder to take it off - and please let me know if I should posting someplace else?

If you are going to follow the old plan then do that, don't mix two plans. WW updates and a major update, the first in 10 years, will be out at the end of next month or the beginning of December. Could you get enough together to go to one meeting and get the new tools? They usually have free enrollment then. That would be the best way.

There is more emphasis on making good choices of filling foods - whole grains, dairy, lean meat, fruits and vegetables and staying away from processed foods. You also need to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes MOST days of the week. I see you do cardio but you also need strength training to keep your bones and muscles strong.

You would get more answers if you put this in the Weight Watchers thread.

Have you thought about calorie counting? I started out calorie counting because it was free.

I have everything for "Winning Points", which is the 2000 version, from my copy right date. It doesn't always match with what newer plans have said, but it still works.

If you want to stay with the 123 system, just stick with it. Follow those rules and use that slider. If you're unhappy later, you can always switch programs then

I remember that 123 plan! I don't know if I still have my stuff.

The points really didn't work for me, because it took too long to figure it out.

Calorie counting is what has worked for me now because I can find the calories for food pretty easily and for free!

I've had to teach myself how many calories I need, what are the best ratios for carbs/proteins/fat, but I think that's totally manageable and maybe even necessary for long-term maintenance.

I use Fitday.com as my food journal, it allows me to input not only my foods but to create "custom foods" which really help when I want to add something that isn't there. I also can add my exercise and my weight goals, so it's all in one for me.

Check out Sparkpeople.com (Sorry no link) It is free, and it helps you in counting calories. It makes it fun to track and there is a lot of support there. I lost weight using the program (which is basically just recording online what you eat, and it gives you a nutritional analysis so you can see where you're lacking)

( just dawned on me, am I allowed to recommend another website? Mods, feel free to delete my post if it is against the rules)

Default OLD WW 123 Plan

Do you want to sell it? I have been looking for it! I loved this version and it worked.. I don't like the new plans.
