Smile Snacks That Are 90 Calories & Under :]

You know when you have those days when you just crave something delightfully sinful like brownies or ice-cream? Then you hate yourself for giving into the temptation for devouring them? Well how about coming up with a list of snacks that won't undo your whole day if you eat one or maybe even two? Snacks can be anything but the goal is to keep the food at 90 calories or under :]

I'll go first!

Nature Valley, "Granola Thins Crispy Squares" (80 calories per piece)
These come in a variety of flavours but I like the dark chocolate coated ones. I eat one whenever I absolutely must have a quick-fix of something sweet! It saves me from eating brownies or ice-cream when I know that those are foods I just need to avoid.

it's pretty basic i suppose, but i love drinking a glass of nonfat milk. It curves my hunger for an hour or two until i find the time to eat.. and I really think it's yummy.

a piece of fruit approx 80cal
low fat turkey pepperonni stick approx 60 cal
hard boiled egg 80cal
low fat babybell cheese 50cal
8-10 almonds 80-100cal
box (1 tbls) raisins 45 cal
2 tbls hummus with celery 80 cal

as you can see, i avoid all sorts of "bars" and "pkg" items as i find they spike my blood sugar (high on the glycemic index) and make me crave more and more and if it is a box of 6 pkg or bars i have seen myself eat all 6 in one session far too many times!

Great thread!

Most of the fruit in gel is 90 calories, some are 100. I like the peach and pears in cherry gel, mandarin oranges in orange gel, and pineapple is raspberry gel. YUM!

For coffee lovers these are really good: General Foods 100 calorie each packs of Cappuccino mix. You just add hot water. They come in different flavors. I like the French Vanilla ones. There is something about a hot drink that gets the appetite under control. And with cold weather coming it makes a nice cozy afternoon treat.

A lot of the 90 calorie Fibre One's are yum and Kroger has a generic version that is quite good and way cheap.

Good Earth Tea in the original flavor...with splenda or honey. 0 cals for the tea, not sure what is in honey. Something about the spiciness takes my urge for sweets away, so in the summer I make it as ice tea, and drink it hot in the winter.

Mrs. Dash on raw crispy vegetables. You could munch all day and not have 90 cals if you eat cucumber, peppers, celery, etc.

Salad with low-cal dressing. I like the asian ginger sesame flavored one by Kraft. It has only 50 cals/2 TB so you can eat the other 40 cals in a big pile of spinach at 6 cal/oz., mushrooms, onion...whatever you like.

1 Cup of almond milk, super cold 50-60 cals depending on the brand.

Sugar free pudding cups help with a chocolate craving.

I fully agree. However, cause I'm a self-confessed chocoholic, I make a smaller glass of chocolate milk. It might be more than 90 calories, but it definetly better than a snickers bar.

I also go for the "90cal" Special K Bars. It can hold me for a good 2hours or so.

I buy ready made organic coup in a carton...they have flavors like Butternut squash, tomato and bell pepper, etc....Trader Joe's has them and so do health food stores like Whole Foods and probably regular super markets. I love to make myself a cup of this and sip on it slowly.

I also like Fage greek yogurt with cinnamon and sweetener (I use Zsweet which is made from fruit but lots of people like Splenda.

Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa 60 calories of yummy goodness.

These are all my favorites too except..to me the Good Earth tastes sweet by itself. The almond milk can be made into a custard style pudding by using unflavored gelatin and cinnamon as well.....yummy,

I love Almond Milk......the custard style pudding sounds great. I might try that this weekend. Is unflavored gelatin easy to find at the grocery store?
