Smile I made it through the first day!!

Hello all! I have almost posted several times today in order to introduce myself, but balked each time. This is the first forum I've ever actually posted something...yeah me! I started the diet today and held to it all day! As soon as I decided I was dieting seriously, I started craving a glass of wine like nobody's business. But I didn't give in. It's been a good day. I am a 39 year old nursing student with a year left. Let me promise you, nursing school is not conducive to exercise and weight loss. In fact, the opposite happened to me. The stress made me eat everything and the giant textbooks won't fit on a treadmill...lol. So I gained about 50 lbs. Now I am determined to reverse what I've let happen plus some, and take control of the stress/study munchies! Sorry for the long post....I might've gotten carried away...

Congratulations on making it through the first day. Day #1 really is a killer. I find that as the days roll on, OK yes sometimes there are difficult bits but I find it easier to do the next day because I don't want to spoil the effort of the day(s) before.

good luck!

I agree with Rosinante, the first day is the worst. Once you can get a few days under your belt, it starts to become more of a habit and you can do it w/out thinking about it so much. I really think it's the constant "what can I eat? When can I eat again?" thoughts on that first day (or more for some) that make us obsess over the things we CAN'T eat. Try to remember than you can have it, you just CHOOSE not to. Maybe it will help you feel like this is more of a reward for yourself than a punishment. Lots of luck to you!!!

I like your humor wesley587....sounds like you have a lot going on!...I'm on day #3 of what I like to think of as simply making better decisions. Just keep building on each day and know that you will have slipups here and there because you aren't perfect, nobody is. and that's OK...just keep going, don't throw away your efforts for one lil slipup that might occur....You are worth the effort. And BIG congrats on nursing school! I'm sure that's a ton of work, and I hope you end up loving your profession. I can't imagine many jobs that would be more fulfilling

Take Care!

Welcome wesley 587!

This forum has been a lifesaver for me! I check in every single day-even if my day is NOT going too great. If I check in on a bad day I find I'm more likely to get right back on track which is one of the best techniques I have found for long term success!

See you on the beach!
