Default Bruises...

I'm an uber klutz, I walk into EVEYTHING. So naturally I have so naturally I have some pretty bad bruises. Was never really an issue until I lost weight and can wear shorts and tank tops. I look like a battered wife or someone who likes to brawl. Anyway, it's embarrassing. So other than the obvious, watch where I'm going, is there anything else I can do for the bruising? I think I heard once that excessive bruising can be a vitamin k deficiency.

I'm incredibly unco as well so sympathise with getting bruises all the time. I use Hirudoid Cream to help clear them up. It's quite effective for me & probably reduces the time it takes to heal by half.

No idea, but I bruise like piece of fruit too

I'm always covered in them and most of the time I can't remember how I got them.

Went to the doctor for a stomach issue and when he saw a bruise on my hip he started questioning me about my fiance incase he was beating me!

I went to the doctor today because I had a bunch of bruises all on my legs. They randomly appeared and didn't hurt at all. Turned out that I was severely deficient in Vitamin B12 and D. They gave me a shot of B12 and prescription for Vit D and said that should stop the bruises from reoccuring.

Have you had blood work done recently? My mother had bad bruising. She was at the doctor for a different reason, the dr noticed the major bruising and did blood work.

She had low platelets, it's dangerous below 50-what ever the unit is, and she stayed between 45-65 for a couple years. It was diagnosied ITP because they couldn't figure out why. They've come back up to much better levels but she still has to keep an eye out for it.
Good luck,
Sarah

Yeah, I had a physical a few months back and this problem has pretty much been an issue my whole life. So it probably would have come up in blood work if was something major.

I think I really just need to start being hyper aware of where I'm going and what's in front of me

Arnica gel is your friend! Seriously. Whole foods has it as does any health store.

Just rub a little on right after your do something likely to cause a bruise and it really helps.

I bruise like crazy, too. And scar. Boy oh boy do I. I've gotten to where I don't worry about it anymore.

I do like the Arnica gel. I got mine at Trader Joe's.

I bruise really easy and I also have horrid periods. I had a complete blood panel done and turned out I have Type 1 Von Willebrand Disease (blood clotting disorder).

Arnica works great for bumps and bruises!
