Default Frustration

Im so frustrated lately. I just moved to a new city that has tons of great eating places, with great sandwhiches, sweet potato fries, indian food, and foods I havent had back home and Im dying to try things. I want real food but if its not listed on their website, I havent been letting myself.
I know I should let myself have a meal here and there from new places but it stresses me out! Any suggestions for letting myself live?!

Try things, but only to try. In order of difficulty...
Don't eat a full serving. Leave half on the plate.
Share with an understanding friend.
Box half the meal up immediately and give to someone else or to a homeless person.
You could even ask the waiter to bring you a half-portion, even if you have to pay full price.

Not that I'm any expert on the topic... my goal weight is your starting weight! But those are some things that came to mind...

Do any of the places have menus online? I'd stick to trying healthy, low calorie options... you'll still be trying something new. New doesn't have to mean cheating, right?

I don't really like 'trying' things that I wouldn't normally eat, because then I get hooked and I will eat it every time I go to that place.

I just moved to Los Angeles from West Virginia, so the palate is a bit different and more adventerous, lots of indian food, paninis, FATTY salads (canned oranges, avocados, etc).
Also so many frozen yogurt places, but most are very low calorie.
Ive been wanting so many sandwhiches, but I know even the veggie ones are probably cooked in heavy oil.

I like the idea of half servings- you need a food buddy!
I'm lucky my SO eats like a horse so I usually eat half mine and he eats the rest. I live in Toronto so I completely understand what it's like to be surrounded by all kinds of exotic foods.
Why oh why does the crispy food have to be so bad for us!

you can eat a half portion for lunch, and save the other half for dinner. It's what i usually do. with sandwiches, i just take off one of the buns, it saves around 100 calories, and you don't miss any of the flavor. plus, no one needs that much bread.

I know you're maintaining, and some people might not agree but I think it's okay to relax every once in awhile about calories. As long as you're not eating out every day, not sticking to your calories a day out of the week won't be a big deal.
