Hello everyone!
I just joined today although I have known about this site for a while.
I am a 34 year old mother of 3 with PCOS and I have been struggling with my weight most of my life. When I was 21 I lost an insane amount of weight and felt so wonderful, but really didn't know how to act because I had always been a "big" girl. I met my hubby at this time and stopped paying attention to my weight. Of course, I gained it all back plus some. I have been on numerous diets for the past 13 years, but have always struggled because if I wasn't in the "zone" no diet was going to work. After I had my daughter 3 1/2 years ago, I was the biggest I had ever been. I became very depressed and it took just about a year before I reached that zone, so I began dieting. I lost 58 lbs! I was so happy and felt so good even though I was still big. It was the lowest weight I had been in over a decade. So, of course, I end up pregnant. I gained and gained even though I struggled not to. After I had my son, I lost some but still had 16lbs more than before I got pregnant. I have dealt with serious stress and pp depression and so I gained 20 more. I have tried and tried to diet, but haven't been able to get in that zone. This makes my depression worse. So here I am looking for support and maybe, just maybe, I can get back in that zone and lose the weight again. At this point, if I could lose 10 lbs and keep it off, I think it would actually help with my depression.
!
There is so much AWESOME advice and support here I am SURE you CAN do it
I had five children so I KNOW the stress level can be astronomical, but you've found a SANE place to come and gather your thoughts on how to get on a plan that will work for you.
Hugs and support on your weight loss journey

Welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Support Group or Challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated, find one that inspires you or fits your needs, and just post to join.
I can't recommend 3FC highly enough for keeping my head "in the right place". Seriously, I've come here almost every morning for over 7 years. Reading here plants the seeds of healthful thought.
Okay, so I began keeping a food journal and upping my water intake aaand I purchased a workout video.
So far I have done really good except for the last 2 days. The hubby wanted to go out to eat (he is not deliberately trying to sabotage me, he just has never had to watch what he ate because he is so active) and he didn't exactly choose the best places. But considering what I had to work with, I actually didn't do too bad.
I finally got a chance to attempt the workout video after my 3 kids went to sleep. I bought one after reading about it in a post and then checking reviews elsewhere too. Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.
I had to stop a few times, but I tried to keep moving so my heart rate wouldn't go down much. At one point I remember saying out loud that "this ***** is trying to kill me!" (sorry if I offended anyone with that )
No I'm sitting here typing and waiting until the shaking stops so I can go shower.
Oh, and I have lost a few pounds since I began .
Thanks so much for the support, guys!
Going to check out the PCOS group...
I don't know if you'd be interested in the workout videos I've using, but they're super fun. I'm really into dancing so that's why I chose them. I use the whole Flirty Girl's workout collection, Hip Hop Abs, and the kitty Cat Dolls (PCD it censored the first word) videos. They're awesome. I don't really even feel like I'm working out most of the time.
Hi Shanna & welcome. Like srmb6o mentioned, coming to this site regularly will keep your head focused. I find that if I come here everyday, or every other day (depending on my work schedule) I feel like I am being accountable for my weight loss plan. Best of luck!
Ohh, I would love to do the flirty girl workout! The only problem I have with dance workouts is that I am really uncoordinated and I have no rhythm. Even this is beyond me. LOL
Don't worry about being coordinated just have fun. When you're having fun, you don't notice that you're actually exercising. And remember it's ok to laugh at yourself
