Default Need some encouragement and motivation

Hi everyone
Im new on the board and I would like to share my story and see if anyone has had the same and could offer some advice/encouragement.

Im 25 years old and have always been heavier, not very overweight but always curvy.

3 years ago I went on the Anti-Depressant Wellbutrin and I experienced dramatic weight gain. Now I don't blame the meds for all of the weight gain, I know I have not been eating well. But it seems even when I try and lose weight, nothing happens so I quickly give up.

Over all I have gained about 25 pounds, ending up at 165.

The big problem is the medicine is helping with the depression, but now with the weight gain, Im even more depressed than when I started the meds.

Has anyone else experience difficulties losing weight due to medications and quickly giving up hope?

Any motivation or words of encouragement would help.

Thank you

I haven't faced weight gain because of medications, but I have had trouble losing weight due to PCOS. Check out the Depression and Weight Issues area of the board, maybe they'll have some good info for you! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/depr...ght-issues-76/

If you need anything let me know, I'm just starting my journey (today!) and it looks like we're at about the same starting weight. I'll be thinking about you!

Would eating better and working out make you feel happy? I think it would (at least it did for me). So use the fact that the medication is helping you feel good enough to get out there and start doing those things. When I was depressed I couldn't get up and do it (I took wellbutrin as well, and seroquel), then with medication I was content with being fat.

Then it hit me that I needed to get out there to be a healthier person, it's not okay to be content with being obese.

This place has a lot of good support, I've gotten farther then I ever thought possible. I never stuck to anything until I started coming here for support.

Stick around
