Hi, Im Karma. I finally decided that its time to get help from a community in my battle to lose weight.
I weigh 214 pounds. It is the heaviest that I have ever been in my life. Im not super obsessed about how I look, I more care about how I feel and I feel fat. I cant do things like I used to be able too any more and I'm only 24. I like to rock climb but I cant hold mu self up easily. I like to do yoga but my strength to weight is not what it should be.
Im in a committed relationship and my boyfriend weighs about 130lbs. Hes tall and lanky and I LOVE HIM so much, he loves me just how I am but supports me in my decision to lose weight. Sometimes I cant help but think what people must think when they see us together because hes so skinny and I am so not.
I have hypothyroidism and recently decided to go off my medicine. thinking that because I had been on it for 10 years perhaps it was time to try life without medication... BIG MISTAKE. I gained 15 pounds in 2 months. I am back on my medication and have recently taken up running. I dont really like to run but I go outside and do what I can as frequently as I can motivate myself. My goal for exercise is to run 3-4 times a week (I can only run about a half mile at a time for now).
I basically just want to get down to a healthy weight for my height. My goal is to loose 44lbs. I hope that I can achieve this goal in the next year. I know that if I weighed less I could be more active and self confident and thats really what Im looking for.
Im here for support. to know that I am not alone, to find answers to questions about healthy weight loss and for support in my exercise regimen. I have a dream of running a 5k in the next year and shooting for a half marathon one of these days. I want to be one of those super active happy running types <3

Good luck, Karma! I started running when I was just around 215 lbs and it has really helped with my weight loss effort. Start off slow just like you are, and now I've been running 6 months and I'm doing a half marathon in 2 weeks. Keep it up and you will be strong and fit in no time!
Welcome Karma. We have similar stats-I am 213 lbs now and 5'11". I want to go down to 175. I have been trying to run as well...it's still hard for me but I am getting better at it. This is a great site for support-you chose well!
I feel your pain- my boyfriend is also about 130 lbs... I have a good 80lbs on him. It makes me super self-conscious when we're out together, but I love him so much.
I will keep running, Ive been attempting to do it 3-4 times a week for the past 3 weeks and Ive only run 3 times 1 of those weeks. Its really inspiring to hear one of you say that you've only been running for 6 months and are gona run a half marathon soon! Super inspiring! Im so proud of you!
Keep inspiring me and I'll help ya'll out too <3 Thanks again for the responses.
I'm also brand new to the site, but welcome! I feel for you with the hypothyroidism! I don't have it myself (yet), but it mega runs in my family, so I'm at risk to get it at any time. >.< I also know how it is to be a curvy girl with a skinny boyfriend. XD
Hi Karma.....I'm new here too! I used to run 3 to5 miles a day. But...had a baby and been struggling ever since. I gained 15 pounds in a short period of time so my doc is checking my thyroid. I thought when you are on meds to correct it then it should be easier to lose the weight. Maybe I'm misinformed! I took a week bresk from the treadmill because my feet were swelling so I'm back at it this morning. I'll probably do some walkingin a little while. I try to do 2 miles. It's hard for me too.but even if I walk and no matter how long it takes, I still do 2 miles. I'm really struggling to so I thought I'd come here for a little inspiration. Just a thought, if you have Time warner Cable, they have free workouts, lots of them, they are fun to do sometimes just to shake things up a little.

From what I understand about Hypothyroidisim is that taking the meds REGULATES your thyroid hormone production and normalizes you. This at best would give you the metabolisim of a normal human. I think it takes diet and exercise to really lose weight. Ive been steadily gaining weight since college and have been on synthroid the whole time.
thanks everyone for the welcome! I got up and ran this morning... ran/ walked. I did what I could. ALSO Ive lost 4 lbs! Off to a good start, I was glad to have somewhere to share this morning <3
Im having a sad day. Got on the scale today and ive gained 6 pounds from my starting weight so 10 pounds total.... how do i fluctuate so much? Im on my period day 2 and feel bloated and want to eat everything. I feel like Im never going to actually be able to do this but I dont want to believe that. Usually I am positive about things but.... eh.... **** my metabolism.
