"cycling"

  • What exactly does that mean? Not like the exercise :P
  • That means purposefully eating more or fewer calories. Like one day your calorie intake is low, say 1200 calories and then the next day its high 1600 calories. Some people have a certain pattern they follow like 3 high days and 4 low days. That way it keeps your metabolism guessing instead of slowing down as it tends to do when you eat low calories all the time.

My husband and I use this to rationalize our 'cheat/treat' meal once a week. It seems to be working ok as he's lost 115 lbs and i've lost 35 so far.

Try googling calorie cycling and you will get lots of hits.
  • Thank you SO much.. I really appreciate your answer. I will google that. I tried googling it but I was wording it different and couldn't find anything HA!

Hope you are having a WONDERFUL day and congratulations on both of your losses!
  • Go to freedieting.com, it explains it and under the daily calorie needs calculator there's an option to see a 7 day cycle that takes the guess work out of it.

It works very well for me and allows for *indulgences* without going off plan. It also allows me to more easily work in unexpected stuff like office lunches and what not.
  • That's exactly what I did! Today is my first day trying out the calorie cycling. Thank you all for your help!
