hi everyone. i have been reading 3fatchicks for years, when i've been good. i'm a diabetic and sometimes i have controlled my blood sugars and lost weight, and most of the time i've eaten like crazy and my blood sugars have been way out of control. my A1c (a 2-3 month averag of blood sugars) when i went to the doctor last week was the 2nd highest since i've been a diabetic. my doctor told me i was going to have to get serious. he knows me pretty well, as a patient and as a nurse, and he knows i am very noncompliant.
i work as a peds nurse and have twin daughters and a fairly new grandson. i want to be around to watch my grandson grow up and i want to be able to play with him and keep up with him.
Welcome. I suggest you look for a Support Group or Challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated, find one that inspires you or fits your needs, and just post to join.
Welcome! I agree with Penguin that you might want to take a look at the dieting with obstacles forum. This ia a good place for support and info. Good luck on your journey!
thank you everyone. i went and looked at the diabetes section before i signed up. it looks very helpful and i know i will be motivated by all of you. thanks again.
Your intro sounds alot like me and when I started here.
I am a type 2 diabetic and a school nurse (for the moment, but that's another story). My A1c had gotten up to 6.9 and my doctor said I would need to get serious or she would have to change my medication. That was 3 months ago.
So I started exercising on June 28th with walking on the treadmill and working myself up. About the 13th of July I started counting calories along with my carbs that I had been doing. I am currently using Leslie Sansone walk away the pound videos. I have lost 4 lbs and feel so much better since exercising. Oh and my A1c went down to 6.3.
So if I can get this I know that you can.
Just find a place that you like on here and join in.
Everyone is very friendly and supportive.
