I use a notebook, pen and a CalorieKing calorie counting book. Best little book on the market.

I use DietPower but it's a paid programme - one off $49. I paid it so long ago that it's definitely free to me now! I suspect that I've had it so long that it was before the free ones were invented. Of the free ones I like Sparkpeople but I do most of my logging on DietPower.

It's not so much for the calorie counting that I like it, it's the fact that it tracks all your nutrients too. When I first got it, around 2002, I was stunned to discover that although my calories were fine, my vits and mins were way, way out. No wonder I'd felt so rough.

Like all the free ones, it tracks your weightloss on a graph - I like that, I like watching it go down!

I have a smart phone. A Droid Eris. I downloaded a free app. It counts calories and all other nutrition info. It also tracked pounds lost and has exercise calculator to tell u how many calories burned. and at the end of The day it will tell u your calorie deficit. Its the best app ever u can even scan food bar codes. The app is called calorie counter. It way better then writing it down. Ur phone is always with u therefore u have no excuse not to use it. This was a life saver

I have a notebook and I use a calorie counter. Sometimes I just pack my meals the day before and then I don't have to think about calorie counting the next day.

I am impressed how calorie counting has changed my way of thinking. For example, yesterday I had 600 calories left. I went out to eat with my husband and ordered the burger I always get, but no side. I added a side salad but did not use but a minute amount of dressing. I cut the burger in half and by the time I had eaten it and the salad, I was so full. So...I took the other half home. Normally, I would eat the side salad with dressing, the whole burger, a side item and seriously consider dessert. It was amazing how full I was

I bought a magazine today about losing belly fat and I want to start focusing on where my calories come from. I want to be careful not just to eat all my calories in, say, ice cream (haha). Seriously, this is an opportunity to not only lose weight but to improve overall health.
