Talking Lurking for awhile, finally introducing myself...

Hey, my name is Jen. I've been hanging around the site for awhile now and love it. I'm 5'8" and have been up around 165-175 for a while now. I've never been obese as far as BMI goes, but I am overweight and terribly uncomfortable in my skin. I even went so far as to get abdominal lipo in Feb of 2008 when I was up around 175 or maybe a little more. (Lazy!) Guess what? I didn't change my habits and it ALL came back over the next year. Last summer, I got down as low as 158 for a cruise, but gained it all back again.

I'm now starting over with a completely new mindset. Trying to eat healthy and much more physically active. I've even starting a Couch to 5K program and I've always said I hated running! I want to lose weight, but also stave off type II diabetes, which everyone in my family seems to have even though it's COMPLETELY preventable! I'm very interested in nutrition and the glycemic index, etc. Oh, and I'm a calorie counter.

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi.

Hi GenetJen! Great to meet you, and good luck on your goals! I'm always worried myself about type 2 diabetes, as the females in my family seem very prone to it. I don't want to end up with it. I've dodged the bullet so far, but only healthy eating and losing weight will do it for me.
