Red face New Chick on site!

Hello everyone!
My name is Amy and I'm here to lose it! I'm a single mom to a great son who just graduated (yayy). I love to cook and we both love to eat my cooking. A couple of years ago, I was doing the transformations weight loss. This is where you weigh in on a regular basis, are given prescription appetite supressants and HCJ injections, and are on an 800 calorie regimen for 8 weeks and then a 1200 calorie regimen for three weeks. I lost a ton of weight (60 pounds), fast, and it was beginning to creep back up on me recently. The center was 60 miles from my house and the plan was costing me at [U]least[U] $200 a month (not including groceries) so I was reluctant to go back.

I got this wild idea in my head with the help of a friend of mine, to start roller skating like we did in high school. We bought our skates and were rained out both times we had plans, so never really went. On the sly, I bought another pair of skates (speed skates) online. I opened them up the morning after they arrived and proceded to try them on... in my livingroom... that has a laminate floor. Five minutes later, my son was on the phone with my brother to come help him pick me up off the floor. I was in surgery later that afternoon for repair of a spiral fracture of my left fibula. I have a new $35000.00 leg, now intact with a stainless steel rod and 12 screws.

I was in a wheelchair for two months and then a month later I started physical therapy. I graduated physical therapy yesterday and will be returning to work in two days. I gained at least 10 pounds a month in the 3 plus months I've been out. I know that I'll lose the majority of that when I return to work because I put a minimum of 4 miles on my feet a shift on the job. I was glad I didn't throw away my work scrubs from when I lost the weight before because I'll be wearing them for awhile. The awakening for me was when none of my regular clothes fit. I went to Wal-Mart and bought 2 eleven dollar cotton outfits to get me through but I refuse to buy anymore than that as a motivation to lose weight.

I joined Weight Watchers online 2 weeks ago. This is my first experience with Weight Watchers. I love it! I actually had a hard time using my points the first week. The plan is actually sorta fun to me. It's like a SIMS diet. I talked to some of the girls at work who have done the traditional WW in the past and went to meetings. They are going to join online as well, and we are gonna have a pot-luck once a month with WW recipes.

I found this site last night while looking for a recipe for meal replacement cookies and I think the site is wonderful. It's so wonderful, I purchased 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet for my digital reader last night and I'm halfway through reading it already.

I apologize for the long drawn out intro. It's really a funny story. I saved the kicker for last though. You see...I'm a registered nurse. I'm the night administrative supervisor at my hospital. Explaining my accident to my staff, was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever had to do. I am so lucky to have them as a support system. I look forward to a new group of friends here. It's nice to meet you all.

Default Welcome

First I want to say welcome to the boards and that I really hope you keep posting and coming back.

Second I got so excited to read when you started talking about skates as I was thinking or starting to roller skate again at the local rink. THEN I read about your ahem mishap and now I think I will stick with walking and the treadmill... geez I hope you have recovered and don't have any long term affects from the break. I don't know what i was thinking that I could get back up on skates after 30 years, I mean I broke my leg in two places 5 yrs ago in front of a local eatery (how is that for irony)

Anyhow really glad you are here and that you are posting

I will be putting my skates back on once my leg is totally healed. I refuse to be held back by failure. I may start with walking sticks.
