how do you listen to your iphone when you exercise?

  • Hi everyone,

    I'm SUCH a dweeb. *grin*

I want to start working out while listening to music on my iphone. But, what's the best way to do it? I've seen a couple of arm bands. Do they work well? I saw a lot of reccommendations for skullcandy below. So, do I need earbuds and some kind of holder for my phone?

I know if I try to figure this out on my own, I'll spend money and then find that I got the wrong thing. You guys are always the BEST!

    Thanks!
  • I have an arm band holder for mine & I use the ear phones that came with it...you can skip songs for double pressing the middle button
  • For workouts, I use my Sony NWZ-W252. It's the bomb.

It's a 2GB player with high quality headphones built in - no wires. Sure, you can't manage a playlist quite like an ipod screen, but it's perfect for me for a workout.
  • I just put mine in front of me. That way if I get a text or email from my boss I can answer it. I have an iPod so I bring both to the gym and then think about which one I want to use for that time being.
  • I'm a pocket fiend. I make sure all my workout shorts/pants have a pocket big enough i can shove my iphone, an id, an emergency $20 and the key to my car (i have a thing to just easily pop that key off).

Sounds like a lot, but really it isn't. And it never bothers me on my hikes and runs.

Everyone laughs at me about the emergency $20, but it's a habit from my "before I had a cell phone" days for what if I have two flats and need to get a cab.

And the iphone in the pocket has never bothered me when I was doing weights or anything either.
  • I either have it on the machine in front of me (elliptical), in my pocket, or stuffed down the front of my sports bra (when I'm on the rowing machine, because it falls out of my pocket). My birthday request to my mom was for an arm band. I haven't had a chance to look at them in person yet, but I think I want a Belkin model based on the discussions/reviews on the iLounge web page.
  • I used to carry mine, but now I use an armband-- I prefer carrying it because it's quicker to skip songs, but the arm band is less cumbersome. I just use the headphones that came with it. That's for running-- if I'm on the treadmill, I just put it in front of me.
  • I run on the treadmill, so the iPhone sits on the dashboard (special slot) and I use a set of bluetooth headphones, so I guess the iPhone could really be anywhere in the same room.
  • I just recently bought this case that fits like a belt. It works great under your shirt. They also make an arm band as well, but I like the easier access with belt and it also has a small pocket for keys or money.
