Default 300+ Weeky Thread #1267

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us

Ratkitten and I both started threads at the same time... then I deleted mine, while she referred us to mine! But I think we're all set now!!

So, welcome to a new week!

morning all..

The band was great! We ended up staying til 12:30 and I wasnt a bit tired. I forgot how much I loved the big hair 80's bands lol. My tummy was acting ok..I did not dance though. Before I left..I CUT the top of my foot on the underside of my computer desk and it was all swelled up!! Next time for sure!

YEsterday I took my brother grocery shopping. I always say..I am going to make out the weeks meals..I didnt..I did get lots of fruits and veggies.

I think being "LAZY" is my biggest problem..gotta work on that.

I went to my aunts house yesterday..the one that lives behind me. She was talking about how she spent the day with her dad. They have a weird relationship. She sees him now and then..talks to him on the phone all the time though. I said I missed my grandparents ALOT! Its rough once there gone and you can't just talk to them. Well I talk to them all the time but you know what I mean lol

Talked to my friend about the craft show stuff. We decided to start with church or school bizzars since we are just starting out. So I gotta get on the horn looking for those.

Cyn - I'm having the same issue... best intentions for setting up my week's meals... but it doesn't always work out like that. I'm going to spend tonight after work cleaning my kitchen, then cooking up the stuff I'll need for a couple days of POP meals! Good luck to you too. It never hurts when the house is full of fruits and veggies!

Lol @ Rat and Heather and the thread mixup! I'm glad we have it straight now.

My week's goals: keep some of my time for myself, cook big portions of healthy foods that can be spread across two or three meals, post actively here on 3FC (regardless of if I'm feeling good or bad), and pack at least one box a day! Moving day is soon!

Jacquie – Great to see you “checked” yourself and are getting back on plan. That is the ticket to success! One off week does not a failure make! WTG!

Honey Bee – That’s awesome! Totally makes sense! I’m going to try to do DVD workouts on my non C25K days but I haven’t started yet. Gotta empty my livingroom so that the remodel of that and the hall can commence. Once I get the TV and such moved and hooked up in the spare bedroom I’ll do the DVD’s in there.

Basket – Woohoo! Sounds like your body knows what it needs more than what it wants now. I’ve read that our bodies crave what we “need” which is why prego’s have weird cravings. But once we train our bodies to run on certain types of fuel it demands it by way of craving even though it may not have any nutritional value. Maybe you have broken the cycle!

Cyn – I hope your foot is healing fine. Glad you had a good time! … What kind of crafts do you do?

Neon – Sounds like a great food plan! … Where are you moving to?

Million – Woohooo! WTG!

Lindy – Glad you freed the kittens! … I’m so jealous of teachers in the summertime. Only in the summer though, I’d never make it as a teacher.

So here is my thought… I have been trying to get between 1600 and 1800 calories a day. But I’ve been reading that based on my weight I should be getting at least 2100, I’ve even seen 2300. While part of me (the loud part) says fewer is better, the other part of me keeps hearing Jillian and Bob saying, “Are you getting your calories?” You hear it several times every season that you have to eat the right number of calories to reach optimal weight loss, not too few, not too many. So I think I’m going to try a 2100 calorie diet for a couple of weeks and see how it impacts my weight loss. If I stagnate or gain then I’ll switch back to 1800. One possible problem is that when I’m really making healthy choices (which is the whole point), I usually only eat around 1400ish calories in a day. That is a lot of veggies/fiber and a good amount of protein. Have any of you dealt with this proper calorie range issue?

My best advice? Start listening to Jillian and Bob. I stalled at too few of calories and only started losing again when I upped my caloric intake. You have a good amount of weight to lose (as I did when I started...and still do!!) and you don't want to end up needing to stay at say 1100 calories per day to maintain. Its not realistic. Also, you are exercising! You might want to add more protein and good fats (avocados, nuts for example) to up the calories a bit. I eat in the 1800 calorie range myself and somedays when particularly hungry I go up to 2000. I use Fitday to track my menus. It keeps me accountable.

Also, its important to let yourself heal on your off days with Couch to 5K. I currently am running every other day....your muscles need to heal...let them!

million - YAYYYYYYY! Hooray, amazing, congratulations! I'm so happy for you, you should be incredibly proud of yourself - I am!

Lindy - I'm so excited for you and your husband to spend time together cooking healthy meals. You already seem so much more energetic and motivated since you've been getting up and out of bed more, think how much better you'll feel when you're consistently cooking healthy meals with your husband's help! Should be great

OOW - I struggle with finding my optimal calorie range all the time! Not only does it change as the weight comes off, but it's also hard to be consistent while making what I think are good choices (I usually end up eating too little as well!) and I don't want to shock my body into hunger mode. My suggested range is about 2400 but I find I only lose consistently when I work with 1800-2200 (for now). Some days I just can't do it, and no matter what I just sit around 1500. Not going to go grab a burger to fill up the remaining 500 calories, but it does mean that another day in the week when I'm closer to that 2400 I just don't stress about it I also find, like Torister said, that if I add healthy fats and/or high protein foods to what I'm eating it's an easy way to bump my calories up, with healthy foods. I usually throw a handful of nuts with everything I'm eating, and I use cheese a lot too. It's all about balance!

I had the best day... seriously. Fantastic day at work, stayed within my calorie range (amazingly) despite eating out all day... the plan to cook healthfully had to start tonight because there was just no way to do it through work today. But for tomorrow I have a taco salad thrown together (ground turkey is a GODSEND!) and I plan to make myself some poached eggs for breakfast... my current way of eating them is to toast a piece of multigrain bread, slice some tomatoes and put them on the bread, then a bunch of leaves of baby spinach, and put the poached eggs directly on top of that. Like an open-faced sandwich. It's amaaaaazing. Yum yum yum. Oh yeah, and after work an amazingly cute man stopped me to talk to me, and we ended up chatting for literally an hour and a half. The time flew. We talked about everything from diet and water consumption to organic food to Wittgenstein (he has his masters in philosophy, I just got my BA with a minor in it) and Kerouac (I'm an English major, he loves literature). I have never felt so great. After coming out of a 5 year relationship with a boy who literally never read anything at all, a flirtatious and intellectual conversation with a very good looking man is a very welcome ego boost. I am on cloud nine!

Hi everyone,

today has been 'ok'. I haven't overeaten or anything like that, but my energy has been really low today. I think maybe because I got sidetracked with a 4 hr phone call (i am NOT a phone person btw).

Anyways, I am determined to go out for my C25K today despite the fact that I really don't feel like working out. This is a lifestyle change and I have to remember that.

Wish me luck. LOL.

I can do it, I know I can.

Neon & Torister – I didn’t even think about the fact that I would need to decrease as I went… I knew it, but hadn’t really given it much thought. You made perfect sense! Thanks!

Neon – B’fast sounds yum-o! Was this a guy that you run into often or see around??? Is there a follow-up in the works?

Honey Bee – Yes you can! And I’m sure you did!

Cyn – Fun! I unfortunately do not have a single crafty ability.

Do any of you workout to Dance Exercise videos? I'm looking for one that doesn't require me to be especially coordinated, gives a good cardio burn, and has good music. I did some research last night, found mixed reviews and now I'm more confused than ever! I did find and like the dancex DVD...but I'd rather not spend $25 on a single DVD.

Hiya Peeps!

I'm just popping in to let you know that evilkitty had an episode this morning that scared me. I took off work. She's better. Had throw-ups and runs and I thought it was the end. About 1pm, she was doing better and drinking water.

I laid with her for a while this afternoon and that was nice.

Hugs,
Ratkity
