Unhappy OMG! I weighed myself and I am 105lbs overweight!

Hello,

I have been depressed for a year and am now coming out of the depression fog thanks to meds. I also had to quit my job because I couldn't deal with the day to day stress. My husband who is so supportive told me to quit so that I could get better. So, this morning I finally got on the scale and weighed myself. I am 255 pounds!!! Omg, I am devastated but I am also ready to fix this situation I'm in. I just need support.

How do I begin?

Welcome and good luck. Glad to see you have made the decision to take charge of your health. Pick a plan that you will do. Weight Watchers is popular as well as South Beach, Atkins has its followers,, there are many more. Diet and exercise will do it . Eat less and move more and you will be successful. I find that calorie counting works best for me.

I agree with Matilda, you are in a good space to start, work your way down the scale and then shift into maintainer mode. There are so many resources on this site that you can find ideas to get you going and also support to help you continue. My thing is weight lifting. Matilda's is calorie counting. There are calories cyclers on here, south beachers, weight watchers, P90xers, walker, runners, sugar busters, and the groups go on and on.

Congrats on coming out of the fog. Been there and know how hard it is. Having a supportive hubby will help as well so you have TWO GREAT things going for you. Visit your doc for advice / limits and then get cracking!!

Tik!

Hi and welcome to 3FC.

I agree with finding a plan that fits your lifestyle and your life that is healthy and sustainable. I am a calorie counter. It is fairly simple and it's FREE. I track my calories and exercise for free at sparkpeople.com. You can read more on calorie counting and other eating plans at our Diet Central here - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/#diet-central

Also, incorportate some type of regular exercise and activity

Good luck with your goals.

Hugs
Michelle

Remember weight loss is a lifestyle chg not a diet

Girl it's tough, I remember when I weighed in I was sooo scared of the scale. I had never weighed 249lbs in my life. It has taken me 3 months to get to 200 and I already feel sooo much better about myself. You will do it, dont be devastated be determined and keep yourself moving toward your goals. I hope you feel better

Thumbs up

I am new as well, but understand your situation completely! Truly I am not far behind you on weight. This seems like a wonderful community with alot of support! Starting tomorrow I am giving it all I have and hope you do as well. Good luck!

P.S.
I have anxiety and it is controlled with meds. I do know what it feels like to be in that funky fog that you are coming out of, keep yourself positive!
