Default Summer Schedules

Ok, so I got into a routine while in school of food and going to the gym. I had some slip ups but basically stayed in routine. The last week of school I kept thinking, ok summer is coming, more time to workout, this will be great.

So summer started last week. I went to the gym in the mornings, napped in the afternoon (triple digit heat made much else miserable and working out makes me tired). This week I am teaching Bible school in the mornings and I have been coming home at about 1, eat lunch and I have been to the gym only twice. The weight will NOT come off like this! I have discovered that if I get in the pool at the Y after my workout I cam considerably cooler and am not as exhausted as when I come home and jump in the shower.

Next week, I will be in out of town for a conference and the week after that I will be in Mexico...... Here I thought it would be easier in the summer!
UGH!

Sorry, no really question here, just frustrated that I even got myself into a position that I have to fight so hard just to feel "normal".

I can totally relate to this. I was looking at my calendar this morning and realized I'm traveling or have something time consuming going on every weekend starting this week and lasting until the third week of July. Lots of fun things, mind you, but things that will definitely make working out tricky not to mention lots of restaurant meals to deal with.

I think my plan of attack is just going to learn to be flexible, fit exercise in as much as I can, and make smarter choices in restaurants.

Irregular schedules are tricky!

Your schedule seems crazy but it also seems like you know what it will be like at least a few days in advance. Before bed a few times a week, try going over the week ahead and planning where you can fit in gym time, etc.. Seems like the more you can plan, the better prepared you feel. When you feel out of control, control what you can instead of stressing over the parts you can't.

My schedule is horrible. My off days rotate, some weeks I only have 1 day off, others I have 2, but never the same as the week before. I also go into work planning for an 8 hour shift and praying I don't get forced into 12 or 16. I plan what I can and it helps. I still have crazy days I dont get everything in the way I want to, but it would be a lot worse if I wasn't prepared at all.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks gals. I know that I still have more time then I would during school. I definitely need to plan more. Being a teacher I have to plan every minute for 10 months and summer has always been the time for me to forget the clock and calendar a while but I really need to get out of that mind frame and and plan for me. Plan for what I want to accomplish.

yes, I go through that thinking too, ha, summer's here, I'll have more time to.... I don't even know why I'm not thinking, good weather, more running around on the weekends, vacations, street fairs, etc. I just got back from my nephew's graduation (3-day trip) where we did a lot of walking, but goodies abounded too.

the above sounds like a good plan to me too. I have to accept that I may not be able to go to the gym as much and so have to do workouts at home in the evening.

you know I have to walk past not one, not two, but THREE ice cream stands/stores from my work to my home every day? (and a pie shop). That's sort of cruel and unusual, or unusually cruel, during the summertime. (and that doesn't include any Mr. Softee trucks that might be around.)

This is precisely why I'm forcing myself to get up for my 5:30 AM workouts every morning. It's hard because my inner teenager rebells and wants to sleep in! I gave into it yesterday and was at the gym by 7:00, but even that felt late to me and my workout suffered. So I was up at 5:00 once again this morning, ready to go.

Sucks...but at least I'm able to keep up with the crazy summer "stuff" that just crops up.
