I have a juicer & I love to use it,but when I count the calories that a glass has ,sometimes it's alot.Which all adds up at the end of the day.I use mostly oranges, apples, strawberries, pineapples, peaches, car rots & zucchini(I try different combos)Should I worry too much about those calories,I usually only juice once a day.
I'd go for more veggies (try spinach for example, it's a great addition to a smoothie and has boodles of good things in it) and less fruit. Fruit's a whole lot of sugar and many more calories per ounce of juice. Another thing I'd suggest is to toss in some protein powder unless you're eating some protein with your juice - your body will absorb the nutrients from the juices better with some protein at the same time.
spinach may be hard to juice,I tried lettuce before & took too much to make a small amount. Thanks though.Protein powder doesn't dissolve too great in the juice.
how much over are you going? Personally, I count everything, including vegetables and I'd make different choices to fit that into my day if that was what I wanted.
about 50-100,I usually add it to my breakfast total, but having a hard time finding something low in calories to eat with it.The juices run between 100-200 calories.I'm going to experiment with some different veegies this weekend & if I have to,just add a small amount of fruit for sweetness.
Hmmm... I don't count fruits or veggies at all. I've never known anyone who just ate friuts and veggies (long time lofestyle choices, not diets) to be fat. Besides, it also gives you TONS of vitimens and minerals. But, that's just me. I coun't everything else, though.

That's an idea, don't count the fruits & veggies, but everything else.I think I'll try that next week. It'll change up things & maybe get me out of this plateau.
I think you should count anything you eat, including fruits and veggies. I eat about half my calories in fruits cause I just love them. When I go totally overboard eating too much fruit for one or two days I end up gaining weight. Too many calories and carbs are to blame.
I started out counting fruit but not veggies (because while I've been happy to eat healthier, I will never in a zillion years choose calories from veggies over anything else!) Then I decided to count everything but not worry if my calorie count went over by 100 or less from veggies. It still almost never does so it's not usually an issue.
Drinking your calories is also a lot different than eating them. You're also concentrating the calories, so they add up quickly. To make one serving of juice, you have to use several to many servings of fruits and vegetables (depending on which is used). Also one of the healthiest parts of the fruits and veggies (the part that keeps you full longer, the fiber) is strained and generally discarded.
The juice is also going to have a higher GI/GL than the fruits/vegetables. That is it will have a greater and more rapid affect on blood sugar, which can trigger hunger/cravings sooner and more rapidly.
One 8 ounce glass of juice can have more than 100 calories. That's like eating one fun-size candybar every day without counting it.
You could lose weight doing either (you'd just be eating 100 calories more than you're counting). But, if you wouldn't "not count" the candy bar, why aren't you counting the juice?
I'm not saying it's wrong, just know why you're making the choice. The problem with "not counting" anything is the risk of making the mistake of thinking that not counting, means the calories don't count.
If you only eat the one snack-size candybar, or you only have one glass of juice, the inaccuracy wouldn't necessarily prevent you from losing weight - unless you started thinking "one more" won't hurt.
What you count is your choice, and if it doesn't affect your results, more power to you.
I will say that I have stalled my weight loss on fruits and vegetables. I've even managed to maintain my weight on an all fruit and veggie diet (it resulted in diarrhea, but no weight loss), because ultimately all the calories do count. The math may not always be simple (I can eat more calories of low-carb to lose weight than high-carb, so I'm guessing that high-carb dieting somehow directly or indirectly increases the calories I burn on the diet. I do have more energy).

I have a Jack Lalane juicer so theres barely anything disguarded.I usually do 1 apple,2 strawberries & 1-2 carrots for breakfast.I love adding carrots to any one of the juices. It's just I have such long days(3am-9:30 pm) that the juice helps me in the mornings,or sometimes I use it as a afternoon snack to keep me going.
Thanks for all the imput here. You all are always helpful.I'm going to experiment & hopefully come up with a lower calorie juice & a better way to plan out my calories for the days.
