I would start out slow. I'm not someone who likes to be restricted. I like a TON of variety. I just try to chose the foods that I am craving most that day and stick to the calories that I am alloted. Don't try to overhaul everything at the beginning. It takes time to change old habits. I still can't kick my doughnut cravings, but I make those a part of my calories one day a week. I know that if I have a big ol' doughnut, then I won't have much left for the rest of the day, but that's still MY choice. that is the nice thing about calorie counting, you get to chose what you want to eat. Find a calorie counting site that works for you and maybe invest in a pocket book that lists calories for a variety of foods. Just go slow. It may take a while to get on track, but every little step is one closer to your goal. hope that helps!

Food is comfort for me too (and I bet a lot of us here). I had a lot of bff foods that helped me get up to nearly 300 pounds.

A great thing about calorie counting is you can eat anything you want. You just can't east everything you want. Not every day, not all the time. Accepting that is an important first step.

Some beloved foods you'll find you really can live without. Others you can find substitutions that will be healthier but still bring that comfort feeling. Some you'll still have, but perhaps less often. Some you may still have every day, but not in the quantity as before.

I'm losing about 2 pounds a week. I am never hungry. I am never yearning for things "I can't have". I love everything I eat. I don't even feel like I'm on a "diet". I'm just making healthy choices and I'm making them for life, not just to lose weight.

You can do it too!

don't be afraid to start slowly - a lot of people like to focus on making one healthy change at a time. For instance, giving up regular soda - either switch to diet or stop drinking soda at all. Obviously, you have to look at what you eat but for many people, that's easier than making lots and lots of big changes all at once.

and yes, absolutely, find healthy foods that you love and enjoy or you won't stick with it. Losing slowly but steadily over time is way better than being super strict for a couple of weeks but then giving up.
