Default lifting weights question

I'm down about 30lbs now and havne't done anything with weights. I'm not even sure where to start. I don't go to the gym so I'm got to do stuff here at home. I've got 5lb weights and resistance bands. What kind of workout should I be doing with these? I'd like to focus on abs and butt but I'd also like to go a all around workout...

You can get a great workout with some dumbbells and a resistance band! I don't have access to a gym anymore and I've been doing all my workouts with that or less! Body weight exercise is, from personal experience, the best thing you can do to lose weight and tone up. Pushups, squats, lunges, plank, etc. I would recommend investing in a book by someone you like/have heard good things about, or just something on the basics of weight lifting. You could also get a workout video. I see quite a few people around here talking about Jillian Michaels's 30 Day Shred (though that is fairly challenging if you're just starting out). You need something to give you some instruction on what to do and how to do it. Form and technique are so important not only for results but for injury prevention.

I would just poke around online. Look at amazon for book/dvd reviews, look around the forum and find something that grabs your eye. Consistency is such an important part of the equation, so you want something that'll work for you.

Good luck! And feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.
