Default pictures can be tricksters...

This is so weird.

A couple of days ago, I had to go for a job interview and so I wore, for the first time, my new Ann Taylor suit-- black crop pants and a jacket.
They are Misses size 18.

I thought I looked pretty darn sharp. My DH was so surprised when I came out wearing the suit that he snapped a couple pix of me, saying he had never seen me look like that. (I work in a hospital and usually wear scrubs to work)

So, I have the pix in a file on my computer, and when I saw the thumbnails, where you really can't see me, I was like "who is that???" because the person looked so slim. But as soon as I enlarge the pictures, so that I can really see them, I look really fat to myself.

I know that when we look at pix we are supposed to see our "true selves" but that doesn't work for me.

Pictures are awful. I don't know what the answer is on this one, but wanted to offer my support. My goodness, you have lost so much weight, you should be so proud! Obviously, your husband thought you look great, so that's a great thing to hear!!

Pictures are tricky, and I know I'm still nowhere near to figuring out the trick of them. But you've lost 90 lbs - 90 LBS! - which is something to keep your head high about and be proud of. I have a feeling you looked fantastic.

(As a digression, I've tried on Anne Taylor's clothes recently, and I didn't feel comfortable in them because of the way they fit. A lot of the clothes were made with stretch and they fit snuger than I was comfortable with, which is a shame because I like their styles. I think it's great that the clothes fit well enough on you for you to feel attractive in them.)

They are tricky. I took pix of me this morning trying to get a sense of exactly how much belly/behind bulk I have to lose. I also took measurements and weighed on scale.

I am still in the obese bracket -- measures, clothing size, weight are all objective measures of this.

But pictures are too subjective to me. I have the opposite problem of thinking I look more thin than I am. So I don't really use pictures to tell me my size. But I do I use them to tell me if the clothes I have on hang right, flatter me.

I'm sure you looked sharp and the clothes flattered your body! Even you think so from looking at the thumbnails.

Just take your body size cues from objective measures rather than pictures -- losing 90 lbs is amazing! Your shape has changed.

A.

this. I'm still surprised when I catch my shadow in a store window or something and surprised at how thin I sometimes look. Then other times I look in the mirror at home and thing I look just as big as I always was. Strange strange strange.

Yup, this is me too. In the mirror, I look the same. In pictures, I can still focus on the flaws....

But then again, I'm SO MUCH thinner than I used to be that sometimes I can't believe I could possibly still be obese. I feel like I look "normal."
