Default Is this normal ..

Yesterday i went to the gym and i managed 45 mins of cardio w no problems (honestly i stopped because i got bored even though i had music and was watching the TV in front of me).. today i went and i struggled to make it 15 mins i kept pushing through and i stopped at 31 mins because my heart for some strange reason started "skipping" .. Is it easier for you some days then others?? .. i felt good before i left the house like i was going to be able to make it to at least 45 mins again .. should i maybe back it down to every other day until I get more adjusted to working out?? or just keep pushing myself eventually my body will get use to it .. my plan was to go Mon-Thurs and take off Fri-Sun ..

I have those days!

It could be because your body is tired or something you ate- I don't really know. I do know that sometimes I will have a day where to put in 20 minutes of cardio is torture. Other days I can do 60 minutes with energy to spare.

I actually had one of those days last night. I was very alert and felt fine, but I really struggled on the cardio. I think I was just having a "jiggly" day. Not only was my body tired, but I felt very "jiggly"

Even when you get to the point where you are working out regularly and consistently, there will be some days when you are able to push yourself more and some days when you will barely be able to get through your workout. Real athletes don't try to train hard every day; generally they only do 2 to 4 difficult workouts per week, and the rest of the time they are doing moderate-intensity workouts.

So yes, not being able to go at the same pace or length every day is normal, and it's also reasonable for your body.

I wonder if you were slightly de-hydrated? If I've not drank enough, even if all other things are the same, my heart does a funny 3rd beat at times. It worried me so much that I had a stress test done at the Dr. I have a perfect heart that does a 3rd beat from time to time. More so if I've not drank enough water.

Thanks for the input .. Michelle i wondered that myself .. usually i drink at least 16oz of water before i head to the gym but i was sluggish this morning and i didn't drink much until i was already there .. I also had a stress test done a few yrs back because of the skipping but i was told that is just how my heart is nothing to worry about .. but i haven't really noticed it much lately and when i notice it while working out it scares me into giving up til the next day ..

My heart sometimes skips beats in response to exercise. Usually this is when I am beginning a routine or changing what I've been doing. It takes a couple of weeks for my body to adjust. But there is nothing dangerous in it--it runs in my family, both my father and my grandfather also have the skipping heartbeat. (And there is NO heart disease or anything wrong with either of them other than normal old age. In fact, my grandfather is turning 89 this year.)

I certainly have can't-do days. Fortunately they're few and far between! I wasn't much into Spin class cycle yesterday, but I got through it. I hate it when I feel like I'm just going through the motions. I'm fortunate to have the class atmosphere to fall back on.

Yes, I definitely have those days too--I never realized your hydration level would have something to do with the palpitations though! I'll have to try drinking even more before my workouts.

I had a whole week where it felt like a struggle from start to finish. Turns out I wasn't getting enough protein in. Plus my allergies were really getting bad and I perhaps not getting a good oxygen flow either. I haven't had the heart thing... I only get that when I am working too hard and need to back off a bit.

I am right there too. Some days it takes everything I have to get up and do it and other days I spend the day daydreaming about running lol
