Red face UK clothes sizes compares to US?

Hi guys, sorry if there is already a thread on this, but how do US sizes compare to UK? I know that, for example, a size zero in US is somewhere around a 4-6 in the UK but I'm not sure! lol! So many people talk in American sizes on here but I have no visualisation in my head of how big/small they actually are.

Any ideas?

I've heard there's a 2-size difference between US and UK sizing, so yes, according to that standard, a size US 0 would be a UK 4, but in my experience, having lived both places, it's pretty variable by manufacturer. My current UK size is somewhere between 12 and 14, and if I wanted something from the US at this size, I'd go on the safe side, and order a 10, instead of an 8, unless I knew for sure I was ordering from a company that is notorious for size inflation. Vanity sizing complicates it all terribly; a current US 10 is NOT comparable to a US 10 from my younger years.

They tend to be one size down from us as far as I know. A UK 16 is a US 14 , a UK 14 is a US 12 and so on.

Us sizes are 2 sizes down....I have looked at several charts and stuff.
Not to say sizes don't vary, we all know they do.
but technically a UK12 is US8

UK sizes are 2 sizes up from US. I am a UK size 12 but my favourite pair of jeans are actually from the US and they are a size 8.

I have clothes from the UK and the US. I'm mostly a 14 in the UK (although can wear some 12s particularly tops/dresses) and most of my US clothing is a 10 (although again I have some tops in a S which are sized 6-8).

I'm Canadian and have lived in the UK for the last 4 years. Most of my clothes come from home and we work on American sizings. The ladies above who said that there is a 2 size difference between American and UK are right as I am generally 8 at home and a 12 here. I hope that helps answer your question
