Default Hi! I'm Alex!

Hi everyone! I am new to this board and I am not even sure where/when/how I am starting the journey to better health. I have been extrememly lazy with myself for the last five years, and I just want to be healthy and average-ly skinny again! While my motivations are probably half vanity, I don't think of myself as unnatractive now and I actually don't mind how I look. However, I want to be able to wear heels again... I want to be able to fit in to maybe a size 10 jean instead of hunting for the 13-15s... I want to be able to not cringe everytime I see pictures of myself... I want to be able wear leggings and capris without worrying about "cankles"....

On a less superficial level, I would like to be able to jog. People seem to really love it and I have never been able to, not even as a kid. This is a ginormous goal/hurdle for me. I also own a bridal shop and I feel like if I am healthier, I will have more respect from my customers. I also want to start having kids in about 3 years and I want to make sure I have good habits instilled by then. I don't want to depend on my hubby for motivation but I would sure love to be a source of motivation for him, should he choose to embark on his own journey! I also want to aquire a taste for vegetables and maybe even meat - I really don't like either of those things right now. And on a TMI level, I want to have regular bowels! IBS sucks and makes me feel worse because I know it is self-inflicted.

I have only ever dieted once before - that was about 1.5 years ago, before my wedding. I did the Slimgenics/Nutrisource program without the caffeinated supplements. I hated it. It was way too much meat... I pretty much lost all taste for meat since then. I had no intention of keeping that weight (25lbs off) so I didn't feel bad when I gained it all back, but I sure like how I look in those pictures. I just want to be healthy.

I want to do lose about a pound a week, so I should be at my goal in one year!

Nice to meet you all!

Hi Alexthegirl!

I had to little by little adapt to jogging as well. I started out jogging, very slowly, for one block then walked for 1 or 2 blocks then jogged another block etc. Now I can go 5 blocks without feeling like i am going to pass out :P

I was not very "regular" before this healthy start of mine either. Now I worry if it is only 3 times . You will get there. I get 3 servings of fruits, veggies and 1 serving of nuts ever day as well as fish and either oatmeal or eggs in the morning ( i switch it up). I also eat 6 to 8 small meals a day :P This works best for me because it keeps my metabolism going and I never feel too heavey or tired through out the day. You have to try things and see what works best for you. definetly think about keeping a journal. I wouldnt have been able to get very far without mine Cant wait to see you achieve your goals! Welcome to the boards

hi Alexthegirl

a really good program for new joggers is the Couch to 5K program. You can find it at coolrunnings.com or just google it. It builds you up gradually to be able to jog for 30 minutes in 9 weeks.

good luck!!
