I have been doing South Beach for a few weeks, hence the 12 pound weight loss. But I'm finding I don't like it, now that I am moving on to Phase 2. There are aspects I like, but there are some I don't. They want you to move slowly to eating carbs, but I have been seriously constipated so I have started eating a slice of bread every day (just started today). I'm thinking if I just watch the high glycemic carbs, and calorie count, its more maintainable for me. So I'm just wondering what diet you all follow.
Im doing Ideal Protein but after meeting with my endocrinologist and the dietician, I have been told to follow the diabetic diet, its super easy, well rounded and will allow me to work out hard, where IP wouldnt let me work out because we eat such little calories. The GI diet is a great one as is the IR diet.
I started with Fat Smash. I am still doing it, but a modified version that I can live with as a lifestyle change. There are no sugars, flours or white potatoes included. It's working for me
I was diagnosed with PCOS 8 years ago, and I just started Herbal Magic just over a month ago. I've lost 16lbs so far and it is reasonable to follow.
*crosses fingers*
Here's hoping!
I have been doing a modified version of South Beach since January, and I'm down 31 pounds. Plus, I'm calorie counting and watching my ratio of carbs/fat/protein. On top of that, I'm eating mostly whole, unprocessed foods and exercising like a fiend (4-5 days a week).
Thanks for all the input ladies! I am just kind of flying by the seat of my pants right now, I am only down .8 pounds for the week, but I also haven't been exercising...hopefully I will start to lose a bit more with the calorie counting.
Wow JennyLou, that's amazing! I am just stuck here at 227...and its really bugging me. I don't eat high carbs, mostly veggies, a small serving of fruits every other day, and 1 slice of bread every other day (I have needed it for digestion) But why does my body like to sit in the 220s? This is where I plateaued before...ugh. Maybe its just catching up with the 13 pounds I lost in the first 2 weeks? I hope so...
I'm calorie counting. I have done both WW and SouthBeach in the past. I did well with both for a period of time, and then went off the programs and gained it all back. Now I am eatting healthy carbs and I am trying to make good food decisions using things I learned from SouthBeach. I also keep my sugars in mind.
I'm doing low carb, no specific plan. 25% carbs and almost no grains. I only do grains about twice a week, and usually at breakfast. And I use the principles of the Insulin Resistance Diet - linking carbs with protein, and limiting carb intake to a max of 30 grams in a 2 hour period.
Everyone's body is different. You have to figure out what works for you.
