Talking Not Getting Anywhere...

Hi,

This is new, I've never been to a forum before

I've been exercising and trying to watch what I eat for three months now, but I don't feel like it's doing any good. Some people have said I look different, others haven't; but I definitely haven't dropped any dress sizes.

I'm getting a bit frustrated, I make resolutions to try harder every week; but somebody must have some tips that could make a difference to my waistline (or to make my gym membership worthwhile because at the moment I'm not seeing anything, and I could be spending that on shoes! ha ha)

Nice to meet to you all, in advance.

Are you dieting ? Do you have a food plan ? Counting calories ? Weight Watchers ? South Beach ? Atkins ? Exercise is good but you will lose better if you diet as well.

Hey, welcome!

Yes, exercise AND diet are very important for losing weight. When you exercise, your metabolism goes up (yay!!) which your body usually compensates for by making you hungrier (boo...). If you're not really tracking your calories/points/etc, you could easily be overeating. Your body probably looks different because you've been going to the gym. So get down on yourself, you're not in a bad position at all. You should never diet/exercise to get down to size X/weight X for a certain event or something, you should be constantly trying to make healthier choices. So now you've made those choices, now you just need to refine them. I have a feeling you're just eating more calories than you need to lose weight. Even if they come from healthy foods, like fruit, whole grains, etc, you can still maintain/gain weight (trust me, I speak from experience!!).

Good luck!

yeah, I've read that 80% of your weight comes from your diet, not your exercising.

Also, dieting makes you look good dressed (lost sizes) and exercise makes you look good naked (more toned body). '

I did the same thing, working out more, but it's only been in the last week, since I've been counting calories, that I've actually lost any weight.
