Default Hypoglycemia?

I was wondering if anyone else around here had issues with low blood sugar?

By far the hardest part about losing weight for me is re-organizing my diet and controlling my sugar cravings. It's also a bit of a hassle when I have to stop in the middle of a work out to eat because my blood sugar is dropping.

I was thinking of buying the book "The Do's and Don'ts of Hypoglycemia". Anyone read it or have any other suggestions on what I or others could do?

I'm hypoglycemic!

Proteins! Eat some nice protein carb combination evey few hours. Some folks eat five or six mini-meals per day.

Just lately, I've been experimenting with lower carbs. I'm finding that protein and fats are indeed keeping my blood sugars very nice and level.
I'm doing Primal Blueprint but it'd be worth your while to read up on the Glycemic Index, South Beach, Paleo, Atkins ...

Yes, I have this problem too. I was pre-diabetic, then ended up with hypoglycemia and sugar-dipping after changing my diet and doing more exercise each day and week. I am doing pretty much the same as SUSANB is ... eating more protein snacks; matching that up with whole grain carb, esp in the evening.

Some eat 4-6 smaller meals each day, but I am eating 3 meals plus 2-3 snacks if I am hungry. I try to balance my lunch or dinners -- protein, veggies and/or salads, plus grains/starches equally, if I can.

I have fruit for my snack in the morining; usually nuts and/or yogurt with some kind of fiber (like fiber one cereal or granola) in the afternoon; and nuts or cheese & whole grain soda crackers in the evening. I watch my sugar but have increased my good fats lately and that seems to be helping somewhat also ...

Thanks for the tips! I have been trying to get more protein and whole grain. It's a little difficult to find things I can snack on throughout the day that are low in calories and won't add up so fast. I guess I just need to work on it.

What I do every morning is eat a protein shake and some homemade yogurt every morning to get the protein I need throughout the day. I also keep an emergency apple in my purse if my blood sugar drops so I'm not tempted my fast food.

FOr years I was plagued with hypoglycemia, but haven't had any problems after a few days into atkins. The first few days were hard. but since then, I haven't had a low again. No, NOT ONE!
But I don't go too long without appropriate food either
