Default chromium for insulin resistance?

Hello,

Anyone out there tried chromium for help with insulin resistance and weight loss? My acupuncturist has recommended I take 300 mcg at breakfast and 300 at lunch - she said it has helped people with insulin resistance and diabetes and has even reversed diabetes in some cases. Apparently it is present in whole foods but it is hard to get a high enough dose from diet. She says there are no negatives and a toxic dose is really high so no danger there. But she's never had a patient try it, just read about it in books and different studies. Any chickies with IR ever tried it? Thanks!

If no one has ever tried it in her practice, I wonder why she would want you to be the first?

I don't think she has had too many other patients w/ IR, and has just read about it in studies.

When I was first diagnosed with PCOS by a gynecological nurse practitioner she actually told me to start taking chromium picolinate. She seemed very knowledgeable about the disease and by taking it, diet and exercise I was able to lose some weight and get pregnant (with the help of clomid). I haven't taken it since though.
