Default Had A Bad Few Days - Need To Get Back On Track

The beginning of last week my DD came down with a bad head cold/chest infection, which I then started with on Wednesday night.
Now I'm a total gym addict these days but it kept me from the gym on Thur and Fri, then we went away for the weekend in our caravan. I took my running gear with me but have been too ill to even think about running while we've been away.
I've also not eaten great at all. Compared to before I started this journey my eating has still been a lot better, but bad compared to how I eat normally nowadays.
So today we got home and I still feel ill.. I had expected that by the time we came back from our weekend away I'd be feeling 100% and raring to get back to the gym, but I can't stop coughing, my chest hurts and I just feel blah still.
I really don't know what to do. I've been back on plan so far today but I can feel the bad foods calling to me again, and the devil on my shoulder saying, having something really nice for dinner, it will make you feel better.
Doesn't help that DH is on call at work and has been at work most of the day and is likely to be there all night, so sat here entertaining DD and feeling sorry for myself.
I don't know what to do about the gym tomorrow either. Should I stay away until I feel at least 90% or go and see how much I can manage?
This is just such new territory for me because I've only had one mild cold during my journey and I feel so frustrated, I just want to feel well and in control again, whereas instead I want to eat junk then go to bed.

I would stay away from cardio right now and instead pick up a resistance band, or dumbells and do some light to moderate strength training. Trust me; you don't want to be running when you're not breathing proper due to a raspy cough and a sore throat / chest.

As for wanting to eat something bad? How about making up a bowl of chicken noodle soup? Buy a box of low-sodium chicken broth, toss in some veggies, 6 oz of cooked chicken, and 3oz of multi grain pasta. Cook the pasta in the broth, and when it's al dente' toss in your veggies and pre-cooked chicken.

Healthy and filling all at once!

I agree, do something light, but do SOMETHING. If I'm not feeling well, I make myself exercise and I always feel much better when I'm done. I just make sure not to wear myself out. The longer the break is, the worse I feel. Hope you feel better soon!

Argh, not a good place to be. I'm so sorry!

I agree you should do something, mostly because I need a no-excuses plan. I haven't been sick yet this time around, but when I was before, I used to go to the gym when I was sick, turn around and walk back out. I just needed to keep the routine. I remember that slow swimming felt really good on my lungs as did the Spa (dry heat) afterwards. Running produces too much phlegm for me.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you are going through this! I hope you are feeling better now. I think it is really important to rest, especially if you have an upper respiratory infection. Give yourself time to get better, because if you don't, you will have a slower recovery.

I had to miss 3 days at the gym due to work, and it made me really anxious and fretful.... it's amazing how much we start to rely on those workouts.

Hope you are feeling better soon!!!
