Thumbs up Activia Yogurt (Somewhat gross subject matter)

I see questions here every week about bowel movements so I thought I'd share my success story!! Before I started this weight loss journey, I used to be pretty "regular" with a slight lean to IBS-like symptoms during stressful times. For the most part I was going daily.

At my last Drs. appointment, I complained to my doctor that ever since I began the weight loss journey my bowels had been wonky. I was alternating between 5-6 days of constipation with explosive watery "movements". She told me it could be a while before my bowels regulated themselves. She suggested Activia. I told her I ate yogurt daily and it didn't seem to be helping. She said Activia was different and from her patient feedback, it really worked!

I bought some and have tried it for the two weeks like the ads on tv said. ( I buy the Light kind...it's 70 cal per 4 oz) Can I tell you? It really works. I eat a 4 oz container each day, either for dessert or an afternoon snack. I'm almost back to being a daily pooper. I haven't had diarrhea either. It took just about the full 2 weeks to notice a difference. It is worth the few cents extra for the piece of mind that I'm not going to poop my pants at work or go 5-6 days feeling sluggish and bloated.

Thanks for the info. I am getting activia for myself ASAP. It is nice of you to touch on such a personal topic since it may end up really helping me out.

I think I'll be getting my boyfriend to bring me some Activia home from work tomorrow. I have the same problem you had.

I think I'll try it as well. I've had rather bad IBS for many years. That's probably one of the only things I have not tried. Thanks for the tip!

I tried Activia for two days, and both days my stomach was TORE UP! I felt just awful. But now, I'm wondering if it wasn't just a coincidence? I think I may give it one more try to be sure before I write it off for good.

I did notice my tummy was rumbly and a bit noisy the first few days I ate it. My stomach growled a bit like I was hungry. I didn't feel hungry but the sound was just like it would be if I was starving. It was interesting but not painful. I was also a bit gassy but nothing too too terrible. After the first few days, I didn't notice any change in my stomach (other than the rumbles) nor in my bowels. I was thinking it wasn't working...as I kept having the constipation/runs bouts.

I had two weeks worth of the Activia in my fridge, I wasn't going to throw it out so I finished it up. As I was making my grocery list for on plan foods for this week, I remembered that I had just ran out of yogurt. That's when it hit me...just as the two weeks passed, I starting "going" more normally again. I gave it a couple more days before I reported here.
