Talking Want to be healthy!

Hello everyone! I am new to this whole experience. I am trying so hard to lose weight I just hope I can keep going with this. I have joined a gym and have been going for a month now. My exercise is limited due to having a heart condition (fast heart rate) I had surgery for it almost 4 years ago and am still struggling with this problem. I had gained so much weight from not being able to exercise for a long time because if my heart rate got too high I would pass out. I am trying to lose weight so I can be healthy and hopefully one day go off of my heart medication! I see people at the gym running on tredmills and going fast on the eliptical and it makes me aggrivated because I want to do those things too and am worried that I will not be able to consistantly lose weight because of this. Basically all I can do is walk and lift weights....so we shall see! Good luck to everyone! I love this site and the encouragement it gives me!

Hi and welcome to the board! Wow- you've already lost 16 lbs.! That's a really, really great start! Congratulations! :-)

I remember someone else here posting a thread about not being able to exercise because of injuries. One very wise member replied to her and it really stuck with me. She said "no matter what injury or illness is holding you back from exercise, you can always control your calories and diet." This is 110% true! No matter what we're going through, we have complete control over what goes in our mouths. Though exercise is important, it's not essential to weight loss. If you're dedicated to losing the weight, it WILL happen for you, no matter what the obstacles!

Hi Danielle,

Yeah unfortunately I lost the 16 lbs due to the flu from ****!!! hahaha. That helped me jumpstart my weightlost..not exactly the healthiest way but I will take what I can get hahaa.

That is such a great quote to go by. I will definitely use that on my journey and it is so true. I am doing something about and not "nothing" I am so dedicated to this and can't wait to be totally healthy again! Thank you for your words of support and encouragement! It helps and I can take all I can get

to 3FC's ~ yes, this is a great place ... you know walking is the number #1 recommended exercise -- and with some weights (I do hand weights), and stretchie-band work, and chair aerobics and toning exercises, PLUS a healthy eating plan, you will be able to get healthier again. There are many options for those of us with some physical challenges. BTW, we have a thread (Physical Challenges) in the Dieting with Obstacles forum; and we'd love to have you stop by now & then and let us know how you are doing ...

Keep up the great work! Rosebud

Hi!!! Thank you! That is good that it is the #1 exercise because I am going to keep walking till I shed all of these pounds away! I need to know more about the stretchie band where you get one if there are any workout tapes to go with it etc. Thank you so much about letting me know about that thread I will definitely stop by it definitely helps to know there are others on my side Thanks for the info and you will definitely be hearing from me.
