Hey guys! So, I've been kind of creeping around the boards here reading a bunch and I decided to finally join and get in on all the support and stuff.

I'm a 19 year old college student and I've been overweight pretty much... forever. I recently stepped on the scale and I'm at my highest weight EVER 274 lbs.... I decided its finally time to get things going right and lose that weight! My goal right now is to get down to 160, and it seems like its gonna be tough... 114lbs is pretty much shedding off another small person if you think about it.


So, I'm really scared of failing, but I'm ready to try hard. I'm hoping that I can find some good support here.

Hey Actress!

I know exactly how you feel! I think most of us do, the fear of failing is what always kept me from trying to lose weight in the past-I always used it as a crutch. But I'm done being afraid; if I fail, at least I went down swinging!

I'm new to the boards also, but I think if we see every step as progress and just keep taking those little steps we can all reach our goals! If you would like to be buddies and keep each other on track, let me know! I am always looking for people to keep me honest.

I just joined today as well. Your weights are very similar to mine. I have already lost 23# , but, have a long way to go and sometimes feel overwhelmed. I guess that's what these forums are for ! Keep going ! We can all encourage each other !

Vortgirl- I know exactly what you mean by using the fear of failing as a crutch... I'm hoping that I can kick myself in the butt enough to just "get over it" you know?

I KNOW you can do it. I'm a new member here as well, but already have been sticking to my new lifestyle changes longer than any other time. (2wks) Love it here.
