Smile New to the site!

Hey guys. Im new to this site. I'm a busy college student working and going to school. Mainly from stress and over eating, I've put on a few pounds. Nothing serious, but definitely not okay for my height ( 5 foot! ) I've started a plan somewhat like the Couch to 5k plan last week and so far it's been pretty good. It is an interval system and I found it under running on WomensHealth.com. I would love to start running and actually enjoy it. I just have always hated it because of the pressure it puts on me and because I am VERY out of shape. Anyways, my goal is to lose 25 pounds and just be at a healthy weight. If anyone has any tips (besides running, I'm pretty clueless about fitness) or would like to be a friend on here, definitely let me know, I would love some support and would love to give some as well.

Hi and welcome to the board!

Staying on a healthy eating plan isn't as complicated as some people think. Just try to concentrate on fruits, veggies, lean meats and whole grains. Those are the building blocks to GREAT meals!

Do a little reading on nutrition and see if you can find an eating plan that best fits your life style. Once you find something that works for you, it all makes sense! :-)

Well I have been going to the gym everyday. I go right after work so that way I have NO excuses! I've been doing a plan something like the couchto5k plan and so I 've been working on that. I already feel better running and am actually starting to enjoy it which is crazy to me! Besides running, I have a lot of trouble figuring out the machines and how much weight I should be doing or how many reps, so lately I find myself skipping that. Also, I read a few good workouts but when it comes to balls and weights, I'm so clumsy that I only do it when there is few people at the gym. Besides that I read an article on Womens Health about some good grocery items. So I bought some and have been packing my lunch everyday and trying eat and watch my portions. I'm not totally in control of my diet yet but I have been trying to be careful so eventually, HOPEFULLY, It'll come as second nature.

What are you going to do different? I'd love to watch out for one other!

Sounds like you are off to a great start. I dont know much about the couch to 5k (googling it now ). Also packing your lunch is a great way to stay in control of your portions, which is something I need to start doing.

I'm doing 2 workouts a day right now. My short term goal is I have a dinner with my boss coming up in 3 weeks and I need to look my best, so I am doing a kick start for these weeks. I am briskly walking 2 miles in the morning first thing-6 days a week and in the evening-3 days a week I'm going to the gym where I usually run a mile then bike for 5 or 6 miles (about 45 mins in the gym), the other 3 nights I take a class, either kickboxing, pilates or Zumba.

As far as my eating habits, I'm cutting my portions but not depriving myself. I've tried so many diets where I cut things out and I can never stick to it, so I'm trying to do things I can commit to. So eating less, but of foods that I like. I'm trying really hard to work in more fruits and veggies, but that is still a work in progress.

So how have you been doing today?
