Unhappy A poop question (disgusting and HORRIBLE)

Before starting my 'new lifestyle' I pooped 2-3 times a day. I attributed this to not having a gall bladder as they were rather "loose" stools.

Now, I'm lucky if I poop once every 4 days, and that usually only happens because I drink a laxative tea because my stomach is cramping up so bad.

I'm eating WAY healthier, veggies and fibre ALL DAY and exercising at least 30 mins per day, usually 90 minutes 5 days a week and then 30 mins on the alternates...but I'm not losing weight either. I've lost (and regained, and lost...) the same 3 pounds in a month. I think it has something to do with my pooping habits and it's really quite frustrating. Obviously my plan needs to be tweaked somewhere but I'm not sure where?

Anyone have any input for me? Did you have any poop issues when you started?

I hate talking about poop.

Lol, you poor thing. Do you need a copy of Everybody Poops?
It's all good, that's why we're here.

For me, I was going 2-3 times a day before too, now I go about once a day, sometimes twice. I haven't noticed a difference so much in frequency as I have in composition. But that being said, it makes sense that your body is taking some time to adjust... I really don't know what to tell you, I'm not a nutritionist and I'm new to this... but one thing I've noticed for myself is that if I don't drink enough water I have more digestive issues than when I'm getting all I need.

I did the opposite, I went from once every 1-3 days, to 2-3 time per day.

Did you start a multivitamin? Constipation can be the side effect of the iron supplement in many vitamins.

I also found that my GI system worked much better before I changed my diet. Also that bouts of constipation stopped my weight loss. It is such a bummer.

I hope that you feel better soon.

How much water are you drinking? I don't have a gall bladder and I had loose poop and went 2-3 times a day until I cut back on fat and sugar in my diet. Are you getting in 2 teaspoons of healthy oil a day? Now it's once a day if I get my plain water in. If I don't I become constipated. Doctors actually consider it normal not to have a bowel movement every day.

I deal with this too. Constipation can definitely add pounds! You may not have enough fat in your diet. I have to make an effort to get enough fat. Sometimes I have to eat salad with an oily dressing. I have even been know to eat some bacon. Of course, I figured that in my calorie count. Try adding some extra fat.

I hope this helps! The good news is that you will probably have a big whoose in your weight when you get straightened out!

Things have pretty much been the same for me. I have always been regular.

However, since my doctor put me on some new medication I have too have been having 'problems'. I eat 5 prunes daily and that takes care of my problem. I have used a fiber powder with success but since I like prunes I just figure that into my daily calorie count. Some days, I miss taking them and I always regret it. The prunes just keep me regular, no bloating or cramping or any other side effects.

Oh, and I agree that drinking enough water is important, but sometimes we need a little extra help....

I actually went to go see a gastroenterologist about this. There are lots of things I can't eat - nuts, raw veggies, etc. that irritate my stomach so I was having problems.

He said it's really common among women in particular. He recommended a couple things.. a glass of plum juice a day (it actually tastes much better than prune juice), warm baths and Miralax once a day.
He strongly advised against Ex-lax or anything like that, he said it was too strong and caused spasms and other problems.
There are some yoga poses that I've found were particularly helpful as well. Hope that helps - sounds really painful, girlie!

p.s. there are some vitamins and drugs that actually cause constipation, so check that out..

Having the same problem here...sadly today I took ex lax. I think I will regret it. But the Flax Seed Oil intriques me. When I go to Jamba juice I always get the flax and fiber added and I got to the bathroom just a few ours later. I will have to see if I can find them on shopping day.
Just know you aren't alone! Same thing going on here. It hurts my stomach, but hopefully eventually it will get worked out.

I have to use Metamucil or else the poops are few and far between lol

The good thing is, their flavors are not bad tasting and they also have a plain powder that tastes like nothing and can be mixed into water.

No other remedies worked for me until I tried the drink supplement. I tried fiber chewables which did nothing and would usually have to resort to eating dairy without a lactaid to get any "results" (I'm lactose intolerant)...desperate times

Thanks for all the responses!
It's not a lack of water, I'm drinking upwards of 5litres a day.
I'm going to try a couple of your suggestions and hopefully it gets things moving along normally again. Never thought I'd say it, but I MISS pooping!!
I drank a HUUUUUUUUUGE strong mug of laxative tea tonight with my dinner (5am is going to be HORRIBLE) but I'm going to try some of these starting tomorrow.
Thanks again!

I find that coffee has begun "helping" me in the past year. It never had that effect before; or I didn't notice it because I had a number of BMs every day. But now that I'm not eating the volume of carbs that I once did, there's been a noticeable cut in the number of BMs I have. I eat a lot of veggies, but not much fruit, so prunes and such aren't an option for me. Metamucil is my friend, as is coffee.
